James Bingham is a conductor, producer, animateur and choral singer, described by The Sunday Times as “unashamedly messianic”.

Alongside his role as Musical Director of Wicklow Choral Society, James is Head of Music & Opera at the Arts Council and previously spent seven years at Irish National Opera, leading award-winning outreach and opera studio programmes.

James will direct the dramatic and uplifting performance of Brahms Requiem, a masterpiece written to offer comfort and hope to the living and will be joined by our choir, baritone Owen Gilhooly-Miles, soprano Aoife O'Connell and accompanied by the Merrion Ensemble.

We are delighted to welcome to Wicklow for the first time , Irish baritone Owen Gilhooly-Miles for this Sunday's performance of Brahms Requiem !
Previously Owen has worked with companies including Wexford Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, English Touring Opera, and Grange
Park Opera. He has also performed with the BBC Symphony
Orchestra and at the BBC Proms.
Owen is Professor of Voice at the Royal Irish Academy of
Music . We are thrilled to have Owen perform alongside Irish soprano Aoife O'Connell at St.Patricks church , Wicklow , accompanied by The Merrion Ensemble.

We are so happy to welcome back to Wicklow, soprano Aoife O’Connell for this Sunday’s performance of Brahms Requiem!
As both an opera and oratorio soloist, Aoife is “enchanting” (Wales Online), “delightful” (Seenandheard International) and “powerful” (Theatre in Wales) and we are thrilled to have Aoife perform alongside baritone Owen Gilhooly-Miles in St. Patrick’s Church, accompanied by the Merrion Ensemble.

Definately one not to be missed......Rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming concert . In this magnificent work, Brahms offers us a Requiem designed to give comfort and solace to the living, a very 'human' requiem . We are very excited to bring this to Wicklow audiences in May .
