I am delighted to bring this programme to fruition which has been percolating for a long time.
Delight to work with Women's Collective Ireland - Wexford again this year as part of the Artist in the Community panel funded by County Wexford Arts Office.
Healing our Collective Grief - Textile Art Programme with Josephine Whitmore
This 10-week slow stitching programme offers a gentle and supportive space for participants to explore grief, healing, and personal awareness through mindful creativity. Designed for those who are at least two years into a significant loss experience, such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, job loss, or other life-changing events, the course focuses on being present with grief rather than retelling personal stories in detail.
Using slow stitching as a calming and grounding practice, participants will be encouraged to reconnect with themselves, regulate an overwhelmed nervous system, and reflect on their own hurts, wounds, and life experiences in a safe and contained environment. While participants will create a handmade tablecloth and placemats over the course, the deeper focus of the programme is the personal and emotional journey that unfolds through the process.
This is not a counselling group, and participants are encouraged to seek individual therapeutic support if needed. Commitment to the full 10 weeks is important to support both personal benefit and group cohesion.
Teas and coffees will be provided each week. Participants who wish to purchase food are encouraged to support the on-site café in appreciation of the space and hospitality offered for this shared healing experience.
This programme is funded and supported by Wexford County Council as part of the Artist in the Community Programme and Women's Collective Ireland -Wexford.
