Finally an image of my miniature piece for City & Guilds Diploma in Patchwork & Quilting. Centre is half inch hexagons hand stitched English paper piecing, the outer section is foundation paper pieced by machine. All sections are coloured coded to reflect the Fibonacci sequence “”’swirl’. It’s also similar to the iconic Hokusai great wave image. Seed stitch throughout in different weight threads and colour to add depth and interest.

Healing our Collective Grief - Textile Art Programme with Josephine Whitmore

This 10-week slow stitching programme offers a gentle and supportive space for participants to explore grief, healing, and personal awareness through mindful creativity. Designed for those who are at least two years into a significant loss experience, such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, job loss, or other life-changing events, the course focuses on being present with grief rather than retelling personal stories in detail.

Using slow stitching as a calming and grounding practice, participants will be encouraged to reconnect with themselves, regulate an overwhelmed nervous system, and reflect on their own hurts, wounds, and life experiences in a safe and contained environment. While participants will create a handmade tablecloth and placemats over the course, the deeper focus of the programme is the personal and emotional journey that unfolds through the process.

This is not a counselling group, and participants are encouraged to seek individual therapeutic support if needed. Commitment to the full 10 weeks is important to support both personal benefit and group cohesion.

Teas and coffees will be provided each week. Participants who wish to purchase food are encouraged to support the on-site café in appreciation of the space and hospitality offered for this shared healing experience.

This programme is funded and supported by Wexford County Council as part of the Artist in the Community Programme and Women's Collective Ireland -Wexford.

I had a dream I wore a blue cloak with a gold lining at 2 temples in Egypt.

I subsequently made a cloak based on that dream and wore it recently on my trip to Egypt, at the 2 places I’d dreamt about- the Temple of Isis on Philie Island and at the Temple of Hathor, Denderah. Living the dream…❤️
