Thursday from the studio, where has the week gone.

This ones nearly finished and I'm thinking about the parts that excite me as a painter.

Its the marks, accidental lines, the excited swathes of colour, either harmoniously like cherubs or irritating like siblings.
Then theres the parts unpainted. For me I love the unpainted bits. I add paint to a surrounding area and then it appears, an area that I don't want to cover up. The underneath, the previous marks, the history. I feel with figurative and portraiture this really solidifies the person, the emotion underneath. The emotion of the sitter, the artist and the viewer. The freedom of the sitter ( my daughter here) leaving it up to the artist to decide what goes in and what goes out and then the viewer asking why?

Reality becomes art.
Im growing about 90 sunflowers at the moment, right now they are for me but then they will become l8ving birdfeeders.i can't wait to see the birds fill their bellies just when they think its getting cold and they need fattening.
So its only natural that they keep creeping into my paintings.

Thanks guys. Delighted to be part of Society of Women Artists
Summer stories… Bernadette has been busy building a new ceramics studio, she’s up for sponsorship. We have spent a happy time following her stories through her Instagram account. Her paintings (mostly portraits) have been publicised and exhibited well this year, deservedly so. She wants you to be perturbed and ask questions. Today’s advice, from Bernadette “stay weird, drink coffee and dont get caught if possible.”

“Feeling xtremely lucky, on days like this I’m in paradise all the otherdays, heaven.
Hope you’re all enjoying the weather.” It was sunny when she wrote this. Now we are glad for rain.

Hey from a little watercolour nook in the studio 🎨✨

There’s been a lot of organising, reorganising, opening boxes and rediscovering little works I’d completely forgotten about. It feels such a shame to have them tucked away, hidden from view.

So, I think it’s time they found some new homes! 💛 Every piece sold will help towards covering the cost of my studio refurbishment & allowing me the space and time to be creative , so it’s a lovely way to support the studio while bringing an original little artwork into your own space.
