Happy Valentine's Day! πŸ’

The exact origin of Valentine's Day is somewhat shrouded in mystery, but there are several legends that have been associated with the holiday.

β™‘ One of the most popular stories traces the origins of Valentine's Day back to ancient Rome, where a festival called LUPERCALIA was held in mid-February to celebrate fertility and the coming of spring. During this festival, men would draw the names of woman from a box, and thr pairs would be paired off for the duration of the festival. Some believe this festival may have influenced the modern holiday of Valentine's Day.

β™‘ Another legend associated with Valentine's Day is the story of Saint Valentine, a Catolic priest whi lived in the 3th century. According to the legend, Saint Valentine defied the emperor's ban on marriage and secretly married couples to help preserve the sanctity of marriage. When his actions were fiacovered, he was inprisoned and eventually executed.

BeannactaΓ na FhΓ©ile BhrΓde duit!

St. Brigid's Day has its origins in ancient Celtic traditions. The day is closely linked to the Celtic festival of Imbolc., which marks the halfway point between the winter solistice and the spring equinox. Imbolc, meaning "in the belly", represents the time when ewes begin to lactate and is associated with the onset of spring and the returning light.

In pre-Christian Ireland, Imbolc was a time to celebrate the increasing daylight and the early signs of spring. It was also a time to honor the Celtic goddess Brigid, who was associated with fire, fertility, healing and poetry. Brigid was a prominent figure in Irish mythology and her importance carried over into Christian times.

As Christianity spread in Ireland, the Curch often incorporated existing pagan tradituons into Christian feast days to ease the transition for the local population. Brigid, the goddess, was eventually transformed into St. Brigid, one of Ireland's patron saints.
St. Brigid was said to have lived in the 5th century and was renowned for her charitable work, founding monasteries, and her association with healing.

St. Brigid's Day, celebrated on February 1st, became a Christianized version of the earlier pagan festival of Imbolc. The cuatoms and traditions associated with St. Brigid's Day, such as making Brigid's Crosses, lighting bonfires and performing rituals to welcome the returning light, have both pagan and Christian elements.

Sometimes is hard to capture the beauty of these little sculptures with a camera. This is definitely one of them.

I kept these stone pieces uncarved for some special idea and interesting story that might come and here it is! 😊

This is a personalised order intended as a Christmas present for a brother. I'm always amazed by your creative ideas, but most of all, by the symbolism and stories behind them. This beloved brother lives abroad and the customer thought it would be nice if he had a little piece of Ireland with him as a reminder of home, family, love and support. The stone is engraved with a message "KEEP THE FAITH" using the oldest form of Irish writting - Ogham 😍

I'm absolutely in love with this piece and I'm so happy it found its home in Germany πŸ€—πŸ’šπŸ€

Ogham is an ancient Irish script dated from the 4th century AD.
It's also known as the Celtic Tree Alphabet as each Ogham symbol is assigned to a tree/plant name and each one has its own symbolism.

Ogham stones were used as a form of communication and record keeping of important names, events and land ownership...

This Ogham Stone is one of my early works that I've decided to put up on sale just now. This year was very successful for me, and I really wish that this Ogham piece brings a lot of success to its new owner as well. πŸ€—πŸ€
If you want to wish someone a very successful upcoming year, here the unique way to do it! 🎁
The Ogham inscription means Rath (Irish) - Success.

This beautiful Ogham stone was a custom order intended as a wedding gift. 😍❀️

The inscription represents the names of the newlyweds in Ogham script. The customer wanted an additional small detail in between in the form of the Celtic symbol - Triskelion (Triskele).
As I have mentioned many times, although the free standing stones are the most challenging to make, they are my favourite and making them is always a pure joy to me . πŸ€—πŸ₯°πŸ«Ά

This is one of my favourite pieces I created so far πŸ€—πŸ˜
This sculpture is a custom order shipped to US.
I will not announce the inscription, but I can say it is something personal and meaningful for the customer. πŸ€

During the creating process, an accident occured - a completely finished stone, with inscription engraved and painted - broke in half πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜± I had to start from scratch. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜³
At the end of story, I'm happy for it, because I love this version better and I'm delighted how it turned out at the end ❀️

It is just another reminder that every handmade piece has its own story and that's what makes it even more valuable. β€οΈπŸ€πŸ˜

I am so in love with this self standing Ogham Stone 😍 It was a challenge to carve the inscription on the edges of the stone but I reaaally enjoyed creating this piece. πŸ€—
Granite is not easy to work with, compered to some other stone types, which made this task even more difficult...but I have to say that this is one of my favourite pieces I made so far. πŸ˜πŸ€πŸ’š I took so many pictures trying to convey to you the beauty of the golden details and I'm still not sure I've succeeded πŸ˜…
I will not annunciate the inscription, but I can tell that it contains a familly name on one edge. 🀫😁
Anyway, I love it and I'm happy it found its home in the US πŸ₯³πŸ€

Happy Tuesday to everyone! 🌼
