Sunday’s Closing Concert left the audience on a high, featuring Maxime Alberti, , Silvija Ščerbavičiūtė, Hannah Miller, Macdara Ó Seireadáin, Billy O' Brien & Greg Crowley in works for winds and piano by Mozart, Hindemith, Francaix & Price.

Sean Nós in a New Style:

Sunday’s lunchtime concert featured the premiere performance of ‘Sean Nós in a New Style’, a reimagining of a selection of Sean Nós songs by Irish pianist/composer Seán Morgan Rooney, performed with acclaimed Australian mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean. They shared the story of the conception of this creative project: Seán’s early engagement with these melodies through his singing and playing in the Fleadh Cheoil, and how Seán’s mother recorded the Irish texts phonetically for Lotte to learn and deliver with such detail and precision. A stunning premiere of this body of work.

WCMF Young Artists Recital

Seán Hurley , Jane Whelan, Yoki He, Shannon (Shen Wenn) & delivered a wonderful recital as WCMF Young Artists 2026, in a wide-ranging programme of solo and chamber works by Beethoven, Kralik, Chopin, Granados, Prokofiev & Shostakovich. Bravi!
