Taking full advantage of the Northerlies all week giving lovely calm conditions here on the South Coast. This a small snapshot of Sheep Island, according to Oileán by the other David Walsh,author, the Island has more arches and through caves per metre squared than any other Irish Island. Recently, I was very lucky to get my hands on the new Gearlab Ipik 225. I'm a big fan of the soft shoulders and oval loom. It's an amazing paddle for long days on the water here on The Copper Coast. I'm looking forward to using it on adventures in 2026 and beyond.

Last week we were blessed with a spell of great weather for a 5 day guided paddling trip in Connemara. When Nicola got in touch earlier in the year the brief was white sand beaches and lots of wild camping, so we knew where to go and Connemara didn't let us down one bit. We camped on offshore islands ,saw lots of wildlife,completed some circumnavigations,paddled in flow, had a surf session and got to explore all around Slyne Head. It was great to have over and for a first time visit to Ireland it was an absolute gem.

That's day two of our five day exploration of Connemara nicely ended..We woke up on Inishark this morning and made our way through Ships Sound to complete a circumnavigation of Inisboffin and then crossing back to the mainland to spend some time at The Cleggan Cliffs. Camped up looking back out on where we slept last night you can't help but think of the history on the Island and people's lives there in the past. Moving South again tomorrow towards Slyne Head we,ll see what Gakway has in store for us
