We are lucky to be in Christ Church Cathedral Waterford this evening to enjoy breathtaking performances by 4 talented young artists on a wide selection of repertoire! Bravo and congrats to Cecillia Henderson, Mickey Tomas, Liam Ryan and Eric Sexton on reaching a milestone on their artistic journey.

We also thank their amazing mentor and artistic director, Simon Harden for giving emerging young artists an opportunity to perform on the historical Elliot-Jones organ in Waterford.

If you are still figuring out what to do during this weekend, you are very welcome to join us for a treat! This upcoming Saturday 6th June 2026, 4 young organists are coming to Christ Church Cathedral Waterford to perform on our very own Elliot-Jones organ.

Tickets are available on our website and at the door. Audience members under 18 in the company of an adult attend the recital for free.

"Mon Orgue, C'est Mon Orchestre"

The king of instruments deserves its omnipotence, as it not only takes an active part in many cathedrals around the world for centuries, but it is also awed by many for its ability to display the might of an orchestra. Now with computers and digital audio workstations, we are now able to stack voices of different timbre layer by layer on our own, but imagine at a time where these are not possible, the role of the organist is a demanding one, polyphonic playing and planning the choice of timbre can be meticulous work.

Our artistic director, Simon Harden will be starting off the 2026 pre-festival season with works of various French Composers, showcasing the Elliot-Jones organ in its full grandeur.

Join us on 9th May Saturday, 6pm in Christ Church Cathedral Waterdord for a feast of organ music!
