It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Helen Delahunty (née Healy) Rathronan, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, a much loved member of Tipperary Musical Society’s early production teams.

Helen was a kind , fun loving, professional makeup artist who ensured everyone’s stage makeup was perfect down to the last detail, especially remembered for her highly acclaimed artistry during Showboat.

Helen had a wicked sense of humour coupled with her professionalism and many a good laugh is remembered in the dressing room underneath the Marian hall stage where her sense of fun quenched pre-show nervousness while at the same time completely focused on her job.

We extend our deepest sympathies to her husband Michael and immediate family and many friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Helen is pictured also here with Bridget Whelan during the TMS production of The Merry Widow.

Tipperary Musical Society New Ross Choral Festival 2026 - Riversong 🎶

25/05/2026

TMS members had a beautiful day at the New Ross Choral Festival yesterday ☀️🎶

We were absolutely delighted to take part and so proud of our wonderful members, who performed beautifully and represented Tipperary Musical Society so well. There was such a fantastic atmosphere, full of music and sunshine ☀️

A very special thank you to our incredible Chorus Mistress, Lena Hally, who taught and prepared the group for the festival. We are so grateful for all the hard work, dedication, and care she put into helping the members shine ✨

A huge thank you as well to the Garda Community Bus and our driver for getting us there and back safely. Your support made the day possible and is so greatly appreciated.

Days like these remind us just how special it is to come together through music 🎶

We’re absolutely delighted to receive a nomination for Best Tech for Sweeney Todd!

It feels especially meaningful because this show asked so much of so many people behind the scenes and this nomination really belongs to a huge team effort. Tech covers so many areas, and every single person involved pulled so much weight to help bring this production to life.

Huge thanks to Alan McCormack for the incredible lighting design, our sound team One Louder Sound, Ben Hennessy for designing such a brilliant set and Kenny Ryan, Denis Fitzgerald & Aidan O’Connell making that set a reality!

Our stage management crew worked magic every night, moving huge pieces of set, fixing things when they broke at lightning speed and keeping everything running smoothly throughout the run.

A special mention has to go to Dan Slater and Derek Ryan, our Production Managers. Dan oversaw everything so calmly that you’d think nothing ever stressed him… though we know the trapdoor definitely cost him sleepless nights figuring out how to make it work safely and effectively! With Derek alongside, no problem ever seemed too big. They both did it all in costume too!

We’re incredibly proud of this nomination and so grateful to everyone who gave their time, energy, creativity, and patience to make this show what it was. 💈🩸

We’re also absolutely thrilled to share that our Sweeney Todd programme has been nominated for Best Programme at the AIMS Awards ✨💈🩸

This programme was a true labour of love, created in-house through months of creativity, collaboration, late nights, endless edits and a lot of coffee.

Many congratulations the duo behind the design and production Fiona O’Connor & Ellie Pritchard, who poured a huge amount of time, care and creativity into every page. By the end of the process, the programme had completely taken over both of their lives there were constant messages and voice notes and many, many “just one more tweak” moments 🫣

The imagery in the programme came from our incredible on-location photoshoot in Ballymore, beautifully captured by the talented Mark Fitzell.

Huge thanks as well to Lena Hally and David Condon for their wonderful written contributions and to all of our members who helped by proofreading, contributing content, gathering advertisers, sharing memories and adding those special touches that made the programme feel so personal and unique to TMS.

A very special thank you to Donal and the team at Tipperary Print & Design for printing such a stunning quality programme and helping bring the whole vision to life so beautifully.

To have this work recognised means so much, especially because it was created with such passion by our society members.
We’re incredibly proud of this nomination!

Wishing all musical societies across the country, very best of luck this evening as we await the AIMS Awards nominations announcement! 🎭✨

No matter the outcome, every production represents months of hard work, creativity, teamwork, late nights, laughter, dedication and passion both onstage and behind the scenes.

Tipperary Musical Society are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend, Bob Hall. For many, many years, Bob was a much respected and valued member of our orchestra. He was a wonderfully talented bassist, and a complete gentleman. Bob most recently performed in our 2025 production of ‘Rock of Ages’. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Hall family at this sad time. May Bob Rest in Eternal Peace. https://rip.ie/death-notice/robert-bob-hall-tipperary-killenaule-629341
