About Me
Larissa is a drama and arts facilitator and educator and she holds a first class honours degree in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies from the University of Limerick. More recently (2021), Larissa completed the one year Drama Facilitation Training course with Youth Theatre Ireland. In 2019, Larissa was certified in Ankara, Turkey by 'ASSITEJ', The International Association of Theat
re for Children, with a certificate in Physical Theatre Tools for Youth Workers. Larissa also has a holds a City and Guilds level 2 and 3 Certificate in Photography from Limerick College of Furter Education and has trained and worked in the St. Some of Larissa's Current and Past projects
- Currently teaching Drama and Well-Being as an SPHE subject to the Junior class and Physical Theatre and Mask with the Transition Programme in Alfa (Active Learning for Adolescents) in Tuamgraney in Co. Clare. Alfa is a second level school, that promotes self - learning and artistic development based on Rudolf Steiner's pedagogy utilising a successful FETAC accreditation for entry into third level study.
- Larissa held the position of 'Youth Development Officer' for Smashing Times Theatre and Film Company and International Centre for Arts and Equality before creating Altitude Arts. In this position in Smashing Times, Larissa was very fortunate to have worked extensively as a theatre facilitator in secondary schools around Ireland on the project; โActing for the Future', in partnership with the HSE and the Samaritans to promote positive mental health and well-being to second level students.
-Larissa hasI has devised theatre based curriculum and delivered multi-art workshop programmes with various youth groups in Limerick and Clare in association with Forรณige Ireland and CLETB - Clare and Limerick Education Training Board and has also worked extensively as a drama facilitator around Ireland delivering theatre workshops that explore and promote positive mental health and wellbeing with the Irish Traveller and Roma Communities.
- "Play it out Loud' - In partnership with National Drama, England and other key European drama organisations, Larissa developed curriculum for; โPlay it Out Loud', a project based in ลรณdลบ, Poland which uses drama in the classroom to help children overcome anxiety. This culminated in a booklet for primary school teachers to use as a resource and toolkit to develop drama in the classroom for an area of education which is in demand of development.
- 'RESTORE' - To establish and create professional EU recognition, accredited training, certification and listing in ESCO (EU directive) for the role of the Theatre Operator that work in the area of social Inclusion'. - In Gijon, Spain, Larissa worked on research and curriculum development, aiming to achieve complete recognition for the theatre practitioner listed as 'a recognised job in EU territory'
- Theatre for Social Inclusion - 'Swop a Skillโ - European partners in Trbovlje, Slovenia. - Larissa collaborated with European partners to develop curriculum that defines a 'social inclusion' framework that uses a definitive set of theatre methodologies to explore issues around social inclusion.
- Larissa has performed in various theatre productions, professional and community based, in many different roles, and was also a key member of her local cmmunity drama group, Quay Play
- Teater Battle 2019 'The Journey' -
Won Best Ensemble and was awarded the โSpecial Awardโ at TeaterBattle at Teterhuset in Copenhagen in 2019 In collaboration with five other theatre practitioners from five different countries. As a multi-international and new theatre company, we co-created and devised a physical theatre performance that highlighted the plight of refugees and asylum seekers that are subjected to arbitrary and unnecessary coerciaon and discrimination.
