A memorable arrival in Timahoe! đźš‚

Steam power made its way into the village for this year’s Timahoe Heritage Festival, ahead of our vintage steam threshing displays.

Just one of the many sights that brought our rural heritage to life over the weekend – and another great memory as we build towards the June Bank Holiday Weekend 2027.

A bridge to the past… ⚔️

For one weekend each year, even the bridge into Timahoe’s Round Tower & Heritage Centre becomes part of the Viking world.

Another favourite scene from Timahoe Heritage Festival 2026 as we look forward to welcoming everyone back on the June Bank Holiday Weekend 2027.

The road to Timahoe Heritage Festival 2027 starts here!

Over the coming months, we’ll be looking back at some of our favourite sights and moments from this year’s festival as we build towards doing it all again on the June Bank Holiday Weekend 2027.

And where better to start than right here – beneath Timahoe’s iconic Round Tower, with the village full of visitors and a Viking battle underway.

Plenty more memories to come… and plenty to look forward to! ⚔️

The Vikings have sailed, the battles are over, and peace has returned to Timahoe... ⚔️➡️🍺

A huge thank you to our main sponsors, The Tower Inn Timahoe, for their continued support of Timahoe Heritage Festival.

Now that the Vikings have finally gone home, it might just be the perfect place to enjoy a quiet pint! 🍻

Thank you for helping make another fantastic festival possible. 👏

One of the most eye-catching displays at this year’s Timahoe Heritage Festival was this remarkable boat from Ulfhednar Hird Ireland.

Far more than a simple Viking vessel, it is a unique recreation inspired by several maritime traditions. Its design combines elements of Viking boats from the Shetland Islands with fast Slavic plank-built boats of the Baltic Sea, renowned for their speed and agility. The decorative carvings draw inspiration from the famous Oseberg Ship, while the dragon head is based on an ancient carved ship figure discovered in the River Scheldt near Dendermonde.

Built as a fully sail-capable vessel, it is a tribute to the seafaring ingenuity of the peoples who once sailed the northern seas. A wonderful example of the craftsmanship, research and passion that our living history groups bring to Timahoe each year.
