I’m delighted to work Dramaturgically on Martin Towey’s play
'An Act of Madness' this summer, the research element of for this project made possible with support from Roscommon County Council. It is a very exciting prospect to work alongside playwright Martin Towey to bring this very important play to the stage.

'An Act of Madness' is Inspired by the deeply personal story of Towey’s great-grandmother, who was committed to an asylum in 1914, the project offers a poignant exploration of Ireland’s history of institutionalisation and mental health.

“I am thrilled to be working with Anne-Marie to bring this story to the stage,” says Towey. “The collaboration with Enchanted Croí Theatre adds a new dimension to the project, allowing us to explore the human spirit behind the historical records.”

This Thursday at @ Bailieborough Library CO. CAVAN — 9 April 2026 — Writer Martin Towey and photographic artist Suella Holland Wynne are proud to announce the opening of their collaborative exhibition, An Act of Madness, at 6:30pm.

The exhibition features Wynne’s evocative photographic artistry, which blends analogue and digital techniques with subversive stitching to navigate themes of memory and dereliction.

The exhibition officially opens on 9 April 2026 at Bailieborough Library. Members of the public and the arts community are invited to attend.

Happy World Puppetry Day from Enchanted Croi Theatre! Over the years my Theatre work has included Puppetry. As a storyteller the art form offers so many opportunities to reach audiences in many diverse settings, and in a very unique way.

One step closer to finishing my work for The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Agility award. Over the last few months I have been slowly and quietly working away at building up a skill set to adequately support my creative ideas. Hopefully these creations when they are finished can withstand the test of time, and multiple performances. A big part of this process has been the development work with Eugene O'Neill Theater Center and I am

As part of an Arts Council Agility award, I’m in the process of making my second and third marionettes of this style. I learned the techniqueEugene O'Neill Theater Centerr Center during the Puppetry Conference last summer. My first marionette, made of wood, was based on a real boy named Daniel Tighe, who survived the Irish Famine.
Having not used power tools before, I feel proud to be less apprehensive about using them now. I believe that with more time, this will become a faster process for creating interesting theatre.
What I like about puppetry is that you can play with scale, and as an actor, you can explore different styles of manipulation and animation to make your presence as a storyteller completely invisible. Alternatively, you can make the manipulation of the character part of what you are trying to convey, thereby commenting on the story as a puppeteer.
Right now this looks like just a wooden cut off…will see how it develops….

The Grinch is LOOSE! Come and meet the Whos on the Enchanted Trail! 💚And meet the characters from this hair raising tale!

Enchanted Croi Theatre is absolutely DELIGHTED to bring the beloved characters from the Grinch story to life tomorrow on the Enchanted Trail at Loughnaneane Park, Roscommon!

Walk the beautifully lit trail and interact one-on-one with the grumpy Grinch, sweet Cindy-Lou Who, and the glamorous Martha May Whovier! They will be roaming the park, ready to share their unique Whoville Christmas spirit (or lack thereof!).

The trail culminates in a fantastic Christmas Extravaganza tent featuring festive music and a wonderful live choir for all to enjoy.

Join Enchanted Croí Theatre this Halloween-Samhain as part of Athlone Family Resource Centre's

“Ireland: Home of Halloween” celebrations!

We’re bringing a brand new miniature theatre performance designed especially for children aged 4–9 and their families.
This enchanting 40-minute show blends puppetry, music, and immersive storytelling to create a spellbinding experience.

The story ends with a gentle blessing for animals and the Earth as they prepare for winter — and after the show, kids can meet the puppets and even try the marionettes themselves!

As originating producer of In the Midst of Plenty, I've seen how deeply this story resonates. Our sold-out shows in Ireland proved it. Now, we're fundraising to prepare the musical for a wider audience.

My journey to iconic sites like the Irish Hunger Memorial in NYC reminds me of the history that inspired our show—a story of over a million people who starved and nearly a million more who fled.
