These four talented young singers will take part in the public masterclass with tenor Simon Bode on Saturday 26th Sept from 4-6pm. Prepare to delve into the St.Matthew Passion with these young artists at The Model, Home of The Niland Collection 🎶

We had an absolutely fantastic turn out for our first ever Festival Chorus fundraising table quiz last night The Village Inn Sligo

We were even treated to some wonderful entertainment in the form of a barbershop quarter by our tenor Mark O’Hara and friends!

On Saturday 26th Sept 2026 we are delighted that the “L’orfeo Barockensemble” formed by members of the L‘Orfeo Barockorchester will join us for our evening concert at St.John’s Cathedral. Their programme takes us on a whirlwind instrumental journey through Baroque Austria and Germany, featuring compositions by Telemann, Biber, Schmelzer, Buxtehude and others.

For our Saturday 26th late concert we’re excited to welcome Scottish cellist Robin Michael for a solo concert of cello suites at St.John’s Cathedral.

In addition Sligo Baroque Music Festival audiences can enjoy a lecture recital on Sunday 27th with Robin The Model, Home of The Niland Collection to hear more about the Bach Cello Suites and the Baroque cello!

We are delighted to welcome Mark Duley and his Resurgam with guest artists for their “Singet!” programme which will feature a feast of German Baroque favourites.

Bach masterclass SBMF 2026

We’re delighted to announce a vocal masterclass on J.S.Bach’s St.Matthew Passion with tenor soloist and pedagogue Simon Bode . During this public masterclass Simon will guide the participants and audience through J.S.Bach’s seminal masterpiece.

While there is no age limit, this masterclass is aimed towards advanced students and recent (university) graduates with special interest in Bach’s music.

Application requirements:

1.One unedited recording :
a)A recent audio or video recording of any Bach aria.
OR
b)A recent audio or video recording of any other German-language song or aria of your choice which you feel shows your voice at its best.

2.A short biography detailing studies and any awards or recent engagements.

3.A short video of maximum 1 minute duration introducing yourself and explaining how you think you would benefit from participating in this masterclass with Simon Bode.

Application deadline Friday August 14th 5pm

Successful participants will be notified in the week beginning August 17th and will be assigned excerpts from J.S.Bach’s St.Matthew Passion to work on in the masterclass on Saturday 26th September in Sligo.

Participants will have rail travel sponsored by Irish Rail, accommodation provided for Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th Sept if desired, and free admission to any festival event.
