I just want to echo what Anna has so beautifully expressed in her post. Being involved in 'Reconnect' has been such a positive and affirming experience for me. I very nearly DIDN'T become involved, because of other life stuff, but I am so, so glad I did. I am particularly grateful to Lorely, Rob, Colin and Anna for the many skills they have employed to bring this group show into existence in such a community-focused way. Lorely, just singling you out to embarrass you(!), you have been so utterly amazing in all that you have managed to do and to such a professional standard, thank you so much. I am also indebted to Mary Foley for being the motivational force behind 'Connection' last year, which of course was the link to this show...and yet there are so many other more people to be grateful to, I would be here all night. Right now, I am really indebted to all the great artists who have participated in this exhibition and to those who have sunk their hands into their pockets and bought my work - let it be my imagery or literary effort. I am honoured that you have invested in me, in any form. Tomorrow is the v v v last day of this show. Maybe we will 'connect' with you then...maybe not...I hope we do. But, at any rate, to those of you who have taken the time to drop in, encourage us, sign the book, cheer us on, invest in us....and let us know that it matters that we do what we do...a sincere thank you to YOU! :-) :-)
So folks, it's the last 2 days of our group exhibition Connection 2 ReConnect in Johnston's Court. Closing tomorrow evening 28th March.
Thank you to every single one of you that have come through the doors and connected with us artists. We've had fascinating conversations about art, process and life.
Thank you to very single one of you that have shared our posts and our artwork with your friends via social media!
Personally, I am so pleased with how well received my artwork was. I loved chatting to people about my cyanotype work called 'Now You See Us... Soon You Won't' which is to raise awareness about the rapidly declining numbers of curlews in Ireland with only 123 breeding pairs left here. Thank you to every single one of you that purchased a piece of my work. 💙
Thank you to Johnston's Court for the fantastic space. Thank you to artist Colin Scott for his fabulous curation skills. Artist Rob Forrester and artist Donn O'Callaghan for helping hang the show. Lorely Forrester for her project managing, fabulous marketing skills and the endless paperwork behind the scenes. Nick Seymour for his encouraging words and opening our exhibition. Lastly thank you to the fellow artists involved, Mary Foley, Helen Devaney, Katie Jane Queenan, Clare Lynch, Deirdre Houston, Ruth Ripon, Jeff Diamond, Rosemary Hurrell- Artist, for making this a tremendously fun project.
