From my trips to Northern England and Cornwall, I have so many boat painting ideas. In the UK, people seem to love gritty boats on tidal sand, many painted from life. But do New Englanders like them as much? Or do we prefer pristine sailboats suggesting a carefree afternoon?

Quintessential fall in New England. Actually it has felt like that for a couple days here, brrrr. 🙏 So happy this painting went to a new home with a former student. This was painted from reference captured on a boat excursion to Skellig Michael. All is quiet here in the Portmagee inlet on the Ring of Kerry. Little did we know, our tiny boat would soon be crashing through 8-foot plus waves in the open ocean.
