🔴 I’m delighted that Fresh Mint found a new home. While painting in Wickford, RI, I was drawn to this splash of fresh green that reminded me of swimming pools, 1950s Thunderbirds, Fender guitars, and yes, minty toothpaste. Swipe for on location pic.

🌊 On holiday in Ireland, our family ventured to Skellig Michael in very rough seas. 😨 On the return, the serene harbor at Portmagee in County Kerry was such a relief after being tossed about like a toy. I don’t usually think of my paintings as cute, but this one actually is cute because who doesn’t love a red boat? ❤️

🌧️ On a rainy day on Block Island when we were stuck inside, I painted so many paintings I lost count. The family was cycling through Catan, poker, and Ticket to Ride while I cranked out small palette knife paintings. When you’re on a roll, that unstoppable feeling is 🔥.

This 6x8 oil painting, “Last Moment,” was inspired by the Block Island sky after the sun dipped below the horizon, but the clouds were still lit. Available on my barbarameierart.com.

🛥️ Do you like boat paintings? 🤔 Let me know in the comments? ⬇️

From my trips to Northern England and Cornwall, I have so many boat painting ideas. In the UK, people seem to love gritty boats on tidal sand, many painted from life. But do New Englanders like them as much? Or do we prefer pristine sailboats suggesting a carefree afternoon?

Awaiting the Tide at Polperro, 9x12 oil on board, available on my website linked in bio. Swipe for progress and final!

I am honored and excited to announce that my plein air painting, Local Treasure in Wickford, won Honorable Mention in the April 2026 Painting Competition! 🎨✨
Thank you to the judge, Michael John Ashcroft ,
for this recognition — a real honor because I admire his work that captures Northern England, one of my favorite places to paint.

Quintessential fall in New England. Actually it has felt like that for a couple days here, brrrr. This one has been a favorite, even on the day I painted it (swipe for silly selfie), a rarity for me haha. Packing it up for a journey to the west coast to a former student. I can’t imagine a better forever home. 💙
