Spreading Cheer

I’ve often written of my past,
on my soul a spell was cast.
Darkness once engulfed my soul,
now it seems I’ve gained control.
Thankful for the light that guided,
now my life is not one sided.
Now good fortune comes my way,
in the gift of words each day.
Greetings from around the globe,
as my words to you unfold.
Happiness I wish to spread,
I will do so till I’m dead.
Wonderful I feel inside,
knowing that your by my side.
All the love that you now share,
and your comments show you care.
So as it’s that time of year,
I wish the world some Christmas cheer.
Thankful of the year that’s past,
long now may this feeling last.
Hopes and dreams now can come true,
I should know now I found you.
To my reeders and new friends,
all these words for you I’ve penned.

Loaded

So you see my gun is loaded, words I've picked have just exploded.
Everything is black and white, you're the one who picked the fight.
It's a chance you'd thought you'd take, but my friend a big mistake.
Any day now of my choice, people now could hear my voice.
If a story that i tell, puts you in a shameful hell, better than a prison cell.
So next time you see my smiling, in my head my plan compiling.
Bitter is the pill you popped, could have made it to the top, bigger men now have you copped.
So you see my gun is loaded, words I've picked have just exploded.
Everything now black and white, going have to make things right, maybe in the dark of night.
So next time you see me smiling, in my head I've been compiling.
It's story which I tell, will unleash the hounds of hell.
Bitter is the pill you've popped, in a game that can't be stopped, pulled the trigger out words popped.

August Affair

Sitting in the moonlit glow
inside my head my memories flow
Im whisked away now to one night
August if my memories right
In the square a few had gathered
few drinks we had and we were bladdered
With the jute box now in hand
a midnight ramble we had planned
Few more drinks we had acquired
heading off we where inspired
Up the road to curraghmore
all the while now drinking more
Over walls we had to climb
the gates were locked now at this time
Sitting now beneath the tree
we rolled a joint our minds were free
On this night the craic was mighty
we played some tunes i got in blighty
Soon our heads were filled with mischief
what we done you won’t have missed it
There used to be a wooden fence
im talking now in past tense
The creation that the poles now made
would take you to the Celtic age
Like i said the craic was mighty
the moonlight everything so brightly
To this day i still remember
this was August not September

The gift of love we’ve all been given

Son of god he was at birth
he took away the sins of earth
So on this day the day of love
think of him now up above
Glory to our own creation
send your love across your nation
Peace on earth we spread this day
love for all now you should pray
Heaven holds the greatest heart
it’s up to you to play your part
Thinking of the songs we sing
love on earth that music brings
Sounds that set your souls on fire
peace on earth our true desire
So today my love I’m sending
the broken hearts we must keep mending
If like me you feel the pain
then true love is not in vain
Glory now to you I’m giving
so true love can keep on living

Navigating Life

Life on earth I’ve navigated
often times I’ve been frustrated
In my youth life was wild
I was born an outdoor child
Never once would I complain
looking for the latest game
Making games up in our heads
we’d play them till we went to bed
Bouncing balls across the street
and walked the river in bare feet
In the field we’d just play tag
and make a kite with plastic bags
Often nights we’d stay out late
knocking doors the crack was great
In the village life was good
kids grew up the way kids should
Today now life is compacted
kids grow up feeling hated
God be with the good old days
when children went outside and played
Life on earth I’ve navigated
there has been times that I have hated
But I guess without my struggle
I would have lived inside a bubble

Nature Boy

So it seems I am a writer
knowing this my soul feels lighter
Many stories I will share
so the world will know I care
Staring now at my blank screen
I fill it up with things I’ve seen
In my years upon this earth
I have lived in wild outskirts
The village now it is surrounded
and the woods are all around it
As I kid it was such joy
for a small town nature boy
Different trees I know there names
people now just play their games
In the woods I’d often play
I’d be gone now for the day
Walking up now to the tower
you could smell the wild flowers
At the top you’d see for miles
on our faces it put smiles
The simple things that bring you joy
when your just a small town boy
Hidden gems along the way
places lost on kids today
When my kids become of age
nature walks I will now stage
Sharing now my simple dreams
walking woods and even streams

Lockdown has us on ledge
living life on knifes edge

Friendship

So tonight we face the end
the year is over and we're still friends
Twenty twenty what a ride
was it strange now you decided
In the days and months ahead
i hope you don't end up dead
Friendship comes and Friendship goes
your so lucky where not foes
So if you’re ever now in need
count on me you’re friend indeed
Please remember to be kind
friends like me are hard to find
On my sleeve you'll see my heart
until death do we now part
So to you my dearest friends
these few words i have penned
Happiness and joy I'll bring
