What a night!! 💚🎶
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Dubh for our Planxty celebration, as part of Culture Night.
It was a very special evening celebrating an extraordinary piece of Irish musical history and, in particular, the remarkable connection between Planxty and Newbridge.
A huge thanks to Joe Donnelly and Zara Hedderman for bringing the story of Planxty’s landmark 1972 debut album to life with such warmth, knowledge and insight.
And to Dónal Lunny, thank you for sharing your memories, stories and first-hand experiences of those early Planxty days. Having one of the musicians at the heart of that story with us in Newbridge made the night truly unforgettable.
We were also delighted to see Dónal join members of The Rambling for a session that brought the evening to a brilliant close. 🎻
Most of all, thank you to everyone who came, listened, sang, chatted and helped create such a wonderful atmosphere. There was a real sense of pride in the room and a reminder of just how rich Newbridge’s musical heritage is. Friday night showed that there’s a real appetite to celebrate that history. We hope this is only the beginning. ❤️
Thank you always to Emma, Shane and all the wonderful staff in Dubh for providing the space and their continued support, these events would not be possible without them!
