They tried to poison him, freeze him, shoot him and run him over. But every morning, Mike Malloy walked back into the pub.
It sounds like fiction, but The Unkillable Irishman is based on an extraordinary true story from Prohibition-era New York.

When a group of gangsters targets Donegal emigrant Mike Malloy as part of a life-insurance scheme, they expect him to be an easy victim. There is just one problem: Mike refuses to die.
As their attempts become increasingly desperate—and increasingly absurd—the gang begins losing money, patience and control.

Dangerous, darkly funny and full of heart, this fast-moving comedic thriller opens the 2026 Eugene O’Neill International Festival of Theatre.
