Rooted in the Irish harping tradition, Jennifer brings a fresh and contemporary perspective to the instrument through performance, composition, and collaboration. Whether performing as a solo artist or collaborator, she is recognised for her versatility, musicality, and ability to bring the harp into new and unexpected spaces.

From the rolling hills of Meath to the rugged shores of Galicia, the Atlantic whispers, carrying melodies across the sea. Atlantic Breath: Anam Traidisiún ó Mhí go Galicia is a celebration of that shared spirit—weaving together the timeless music traditions of Ireland and Galicia.

Alongside Jennifer, Atlantic Breath will feature the internationally renowned Anxo Lorenzo Ensemble from Galicia, led by master gaita player Anxo Lorenzo, and Irish musicians An Chéad Ghlúin Eile (sean-nós), Bernadette Nic Gabhann & Antóin Mac Gabhann (fiddle), Éanna Ó Cróinín (uillean pipes), Iarla Ó Lionáird (sean-nós), Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh (concertina), and more.⁠

The repertoire for this tour includes Schumann’s vividly expressive String Quartet in F major Op.41 No.2, Schubert’s emotionally extreme String Quartet in G major D.887, and a new quartet from Galway-based composer Jane O’Leary written specifically for Pirosmani.

The Pirosmani Quartet is presented in partnership with MTU Cork School of Music.

MEET THE ARTIST: Carol O’Connor 🎨

The First Frontier Was the Horizon
Now showing at Solstice until Sat 24 October 2026

Carol uses nature as a way into a painting. What might start as representational can often be reworked to the point of obliteration or not depending on how the painting evolves. Most of the imagery comes from images she has collected either through photography or from historical paintings. Her aim is not to depict but to evoke a feeling or a response to an image. Her current body of work features heavy skies, landscapes both urban and rural and trees. She likes to work fast and finish the work with gestural marks making bold broad swipes either adding paint or swiping it away in an attempt to resolve a painting and develop a cohesive flow.

The First Frontier Was the Horizon runs at Solstice from 12 September – 24 October 2026.
Solstice Gallery opens Tuesday to Saturday, 11.00am - 4.00pm, throughout the exhibition.

Two alternating stories. One stars Elsa, an advertisement director contending with intense migraines and the recent passing of her mother over a long December holiday in 2004. The other stars Raúl, a filmmaker in 2026, writing a screenplay about Elsa that increasingly mirrors events in his own life.

Chaired by our Visual Arts Curator Ruth Hogan, exhibiting artists Charles Tyrrell, William O'Neill, and Kevin Cosgrove openly discussed their process and approaches to painting this past Saturday in Solstice Gallery.

Speaking to a large local audience and fellow artists, similarities and differences in their use of paint as a medium were explored, and insightful changes in the perception of painting over the last 20 years were shared.

Sightless Cinema Meath returns to Solstice this Halloween with LOST AND FOUND, a new programme of immersive, surround sound audio shorts mixing comedy, drama, and music in some unexpected stories about sight loss 👂

In ‘Split Time’, a blind runner fractures his ankle; ‘Cuckoo’s Lane’ is a housing crisis comedy featuring a misplaced modular home and a John Deere tractor; ‘Red Boots’ is a Sightless Cinema Meath first, a musical story created in collaboration with Navan musician Alan Carmody; and there will be some surprise new audio dramas performed live by Sightless Cinema on the night.

Now in its twelfth successful year, Sightless Cinema is a collaborative arts project led by director Ciarán Taylor, for people with sight loss to devise and produce audio theatre. Sightless Cinema Meath is supported by Meath County Council Arts Office and Meath Creative Ireland in partnership with Solstice Arts Centre, and Vision Ireland.

Inviting artists living in or from County Meath to submit works of all disciplines, Solstice Arts Centre is delighted to announce the fifteenth SURVEYOR open exhibition. Supporting, valuing, and encouraging Meath artists in the development of their practices and creative careers, the exhibition presents an overview of contemporary visual arts practice throughout the county.

This year we are delighted to announce the work will be selected by Darragh Hogan, Director at Kerlin Gallery, Dublin.

For its 20th year, Solstice is pleased to announce the continuation of three awards: Solstice Visual Arts Award (to the value of €2000), Meath County Council Arts Office ‘Going Solo Award 2026’ (to the value of €2000), and Newgrange Gold Award (to the value of €1000)
