It has come to our attention that on at least 2 occasions, a company referring to themselves as "Bark" have misrepresented themselves to potential customers of ours as being in some way an intermediary to gain quotes for our services.
Now two of their staff have confirmed (separately & quite openly) that they had scraped our company's presence on facebook in order to do this.
Some personal & potentially identifying data of potential customers was also transferred by them to us (without us having requested it), including names, and age profile information of children.
Please rest assured their conduct falls way beyond anything that we would expect from any firm we do business with. We can confirm that we are not, nor have we ever been, associated to them or what passes for business practices with them.
For the last hour, we have been attempting to get them to do their part in reporting their mishandling of Data (ours, and at least two potential customers and their children's), unsuccessfully, including one of our team having been yelled at by one of their staff members on the 'phone.
We are in the process of reporting the breach ourselves, and will work closely with the DPC to ensure that the matter is handled as quickly and carefully as possible.
We apologise unreservedly to any of our customers or potential customers who this company made believe you were in a dialogue with us. We understand that it must feel deeply disappointing and extremely inconvenient.
As ever, we remain available *directly* for all quotes and enquiries and can confirm that we never have, and never will, use any intermediary. We are extremely proud of our level of customer services, and won't accept less for our clients, so we do not outsource this element.
If you feel that you may have been affected by this extraordinary situation, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will help as much as we possibly can.
