Volunteer Laois

Volunteer Laois Laois Volunteer Centre is a new service in County Laois. Volunteer Laois has been set up as part of the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP).

We are a registered charity which aims to connect non profit organisations and people to create volunteering opportunities for the benefit of communities and individuals. This programme is designed to counter disadvantage and to promote equality and social and economic inclusion. The programme works with unemployed people, older people, young people, one parent families, people with disabilities,

low income families, travellers and volunteers. The LCDP Programme, which encourages partnership with social inclusion groups, agencies and communities, has four main goals:

•To promote awareness, knowledge and uptake of a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community services.

•To increase access to formal and informal educational, recreational and cultural development activities and resources.

•To increase the work readiness of people to enter the labour market.

•To promote engagement with policy, practice and decision-making processes on matters affecting local communities

•Volunteer Laois staff will contact all volunteers and organisations within 24 hours of online registration.

Hi Folks!

The day is almost here!! Join us next Sunday 28th June for The Old Fort Festival in Portlaoise!

We are going to try something new this year! To make our festival more inclusive, we will be doing our best to make the first hour 12 - 1pm more sensory and autism friendly! To accomplish this we are taking a few steps:

- Our friends at The Big Dig will be reserving their first session for those that wish to avail of a calmer more relaxed atmosphere with more space for each child. Booking is essential so please visit https://oldfortquarter.com to book. ⭐ 😊
- Come and chat with all our battle re-enactors up close before they fight later in the day ⚔️ 🛡️
- Tour the site and chat with all of our other heritage acts 🪵
- we will not be playing any loud music or making noise on site for this hour 🎧

I am happy to share that our I-Vol system is back up and running so if any volunteers would like to register or apply for roles you can!!! Thank you all for your patience

Hello Everyone, Our I-VOL national database is currently down, so if you are trying to apply for a volunteering Opportunity or trying to register to become a volunteer, you will get a message that I-VOl is under maintenance, you can email me on [email protected] if you want to apply for a role and I can complete this for you. Apologies on any inconvenience this may be causing. Hopefully this will be fixed shortly.
