Magic of Music - Wellbeing Workshops for Young People
For Young People Aged 12-18 years

You don’t need to have musical talent to use music to enhance your well being and mental health.

In these workshops Daragh Slacke will teach simple techniques to enrich the mind, body, and spirit through music. These methods can be applied in daily life, particularly when feeling down or
stressed out.

A sense of creativity though song writing can bring positive feelings and an enhanced sense of achievement. Young people who participate will be provided with the the tools to unlock the magic of music in terms of songwriting and music listenership. Providing them a picture of their own music potential and the tools to create it.Simple, fun, learning together and creating a social context for our creative endeavour.

Daragh Slacke - musician from County Cavan, has many years experience in the music scene who has written and produced albums, Toured worldwide, is a Guitarist and Vocalist; Booking agent for bands, of which 3 particular are Whiskey you're the Divil (a traditional Irish group) Blutack & The Greenhorns (a funk jazz group) Whisht (a blues rock group)

The aim of this project is to create a space in which participants develop skills to enable them to foster a greater sense of self-efficacy, creativity and enjoyment in life through the medium of art and storytelling.

Each activity is carefully planned to allow the participant to engage in a fun activity which also creates room for reflection, self-compassion and essentially a greater awareness of how their own
lives can be improved with a healthy balance of fun and creativity.

The workshop will contain elements of mindfulness practice, self-compassion practice, tips for general wellbeing and relaxation as well as an opportunity for people to get creative using the mediums of painting, drawing, music, or whatever medium they
want to use!

Annie June Callaghan - Arts coordinator and facilitator; Annie is a musician and performer working with folk theatre the Armagh Rhymers, she has over 15 years facilitating art workshops and has an undergraduate in Illustration.

Skills Development Training for Youth Workers and Youth Arts Workers

CMETB Youth Services, Cavan Arts Office and Monaghan Arts Office in partnership with National Youth Council invite you to our next Youth Arts Hub taking place on Jan 29th & Feb 05 11am - 1.30pm via Zoom.

We are delighted to offer skills development training for youth workers and youth arts workers in Online Facilitation Skills and Digital Music, Song Writing and Recording.

Maia Thomas is a freelance artist, illustrator and campaigner based in Cork, Ireland. Session 2: Feb 05 Digital music, Song writing & Recording by Garry McCarthy
Garry McCarthy is a music producer, songwriter, rapper and youth workshop facilitator from Cork who began creating his own music as a teenager. Garry has worked with and continues to work with organisations like Music Generation Cork City, The HSE, JCSP Libraries program in secondary schools, Foróige, Youth Work Ireland, Youthreach, EPIC as well as hundreds of primary and secondary schools. He also runs the not-for-profit community music space The Kabin Studio in Knocknaheeny Cork mentoring and recording young rappers and songwriters in Cork city as well as delivering workshops there with other local musicians. https://gmcbeats.com
