We are delighted to introduce Fearghus Walsh and Seán Ahern who are playing at Connacht Fleadh 2026 in Mohill! Catch them playing in O’Callaghan’s Bar on Saturday 4th July🎻

Fearghus Walsh and Seán Ahern are traditional musicians from County Cork who have been performing together since the start of their musical education.

Fearghus Walsh (Uilleann Pipes) is from Belgooly and learned from John Mitchell and Muireann Ní Shé. Seán Ahern (Concertina) comes from Kilbrittain, having learned his craft from Liam O’Mahony and Paul Clesham.

As a duet, their long-standing musical partnership has seen them compete successfully in various Fleadh Cheoil competitions, as well as capturing widespread attention as winners in the Siansa Gael Linn competition in 2022🎶

Dancing Competitions take place on Friday 5th of July while all other competitions take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July at Scoil Mhuire and Strokestown Community Center.

Celebrating writer, John McGahern's connection to Mohill, we invite you to join us & "Jamesie" aka Philip Dolan for a special screening of "That They May Face The Rising Sun".
Whether you have seen the film before or have been meaning to, this is a chance to catch up with one of the main characters, gaining insight into the making of the film, his character and you might even like to get your picture taken with him.
This is a free event but we are asking people to book a place through Eventbrite so we can prepare for numbers at Lough Rynn Castle

Opening for the Mulcahy Family on Friday 3rd July are Bríomhar, a hugely talented group of five young musicians already making waves on the Irish trad scene.

Recipients of the prestigious NYAH award at Meitheal in Ennis, Bríomhar have already performed on stages including TG4 Fleadh25, NYAH in Cavan and Féile Chois Cuain Louisburg.

We are delighted to introduce Hannah Lyons, Aodhán Hughes and Méabh Dunlop who are playing at Connacht Fleadh 2026 in Mohill! Catch them playing in Carroll’s and The Green Rooster on Saturday 4th July🎻

Hannah Lyons is a multi-instrumentalist from Balla, Co.Mayo and is studying Music and Religious Post-Primary Education in DCU. Her love of music was passed down by her parents and brought to life with the help of her teachers such as Tom Lyons, Caoimhe Kilkenny, Marese O’Hora and Grainne Hambly. Hannah holds 6 All-Ireland medals, the most recent being the Senior Harp.

From Carnacon county Mayo, Aodhan Hughes is an engineering student, influenced majorly in his playing style by musicians such as Theresa O’Grady and Noel Kilkenny who he learned to play the banjo from. As well as being a member of The Pipers Cross, the 2023 All Ireland Céilí Band champions, Aodhan has also won solo and duet and trio competitions at All Ireland level.

Méabh Dunlop is from Turlough, Co Mayo, and studying Primary Teaching in Dublin. She was first introduced to music by her grandad, Philip Dunlop, and was then lucky enough to be introduced to the trad world at age 6 by Noel Kilkenny.
Her love of music was continued by other teachers, Kate Heneghan and John Kilkenny. She has multiple All Ireland Fleadh medals, both in solo and group performances.

As the Connacht Fleadh in Mohill approaches, we are delighted to advise that Recording Permit Applications are now available online via the link below and on the Connacht Fleadh website.

Please note:

A separate permit application must be submitted for each competition.

Hard-copy permit forms will also be available from the Fleadh Office.

Approved permits, whether digital or hard copy, must be presented to the Call Steward prior to the competition.

For group competitions:
🎵 1–2 recording permits per group are recommended. Please discuss arrangements with your group leader or tutor in advance.

🚫 Please remember that the audio recording of another competitor is strictly forbidden.

It is hoped that all Fleadh Office forms will be available online at every level from next year onwards.

Wishing all our competitors the very best as preparations continue for the Connacht Fleadh 2026, Mohill 🎶
