What will AI mean for a town like Moate?

On Thursday September 10th at 7pm, Tuar Ard will host Shaping Ireland in the Age of AI, bringing together three people working at the sharp end of AI in Ireland.

Louise McCormack is a specialist in trustworthy and ethical AI, contributing to international AI standards and carrying out doctoral research at the University of Galway. Jonny O’Dwyer is an AI researcher and lecturer at TUS, with a particular interest in AI ethics. Mícheál O’Neill, founder of AI With Kelso and CEO of Kelso Digital, has trained more than 2,000 business owners in how to use AI in practice.

Together they’ll look at what AI could mean for our culture, our jobs, our businesses and our communities, and bring a conversation that can often feel remote much closer to home.

You don’t need any technical knowledge to come along. Just curiosity.

And there’s another good reason to support it: all proceeds from the evening will go to Moate Tidy Towns

I am sitting at my desk listening to The Céadaoin Collective and Keeve soundcheck in Tuar Ard right now. The harmonies, melodies and gentle instrumentation I am hearing are absolutely beautiful.

If you’re anywhere near Moate and wondering what to do with your Saturday night, come in. This is going to be special.

The new ticket costs €50 and covers 26 fortnightly draws from 16 September 2026 to 1 September 2027.

🎭 Elocution, Speech & Drama Classes at Tuar Ard

Mary Whelan Fox School of Elocution, Speech & Drama returns to Tuar Ard this September, with classes every Tuesday in the Gallery.

Mary has been teaching in Moate for 20 years, helping children and young people build confidence, creativity and communication skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Classes include acting, mime, role play, public speaking, effective communication and drama games, all blended together to make learning fun and engaging.

Ages 4–7 | 3.45pm–4.30pm
Ages 8–12 | 4.30pm–5.15pm
Secondary School | 5.15pm–6.00pm

🎶 LIVE IN MOATE THIS SATURDAY

The Céadaoin Collective come to Tuar Ard this Saturday night for an evening of Irish folk, trad and original music.

Bringing together five accomplished musicians, the collective blends fiddle, flute, cello, guitar and vocals into a rich live sound, with Keeve joining them as special guest.
