If you love nature, swing by City Hall to see the “Art of Healing” show. I am honored to have my piece, “Trail,” displayed. I was inspired by the citrusy lighting and ecstatic botanicals wildly reaching up to the bright blue sky on our hike to Paradise Falls. This show is all about the healing properties of nature and it will inspire you to get outside. This show is part of the Santa Clarita Public Library] “One Story One City” program.

Ireland is on my mind with around the corner, so I’m sharing my watercolor of St. Finbarr’s Oratory in County Cork. I was inspired by its fairy tale charm and the mystical Irish countryside surrounding it. A popular chapel for weddings, one can see why! It’s and today’s prompt is “you and your work.” I am a visual and performing artist based in Southern California with a sweet 4 year old boy, my college sweetheart husband and our 13 year old yorkie. I had to take a leave from my work as an actor when covid hit, which gave me time to start painting more, illustrating and working on my Etsy shop. I love painting fine art pieces, nursery decor and children’s illustrations, which I sell in my Etsy shop. One of my lifelong dreams has been to write and illustrate children’s books. As a child, I would create illustrated picture books for fun, and it feels wonderful to return to this art form. I love seeing the world through my inner child’s eyes, and that’s what illustrating invites me to do.

Creating art is a spiritual practice for me, and rewarding in and of itself. But nothing makes me happier than when someone messages me to say that my work brought them joy or comfort.

I have since returned to auditioning, thanks to my wonderful agent, and am continuing my daily art practice.

Samantha Pickleberry sometimes does naughty things. Her mom said, “When the moon is out, it’s time for bed.” But Sam wanted to stay up all night. She tried to reason with her mom, but her mother is VERY stubborn. So Sam decided to remove the problem altogether. While I don’t endorse this behavior, I have to admit I’m a little bit proud of her creative problem solving.

This is my submission for the “celestial plotting villain” prompt by the I had a blast working on this and I am so thankful to the hosts for their inspiring prompts!

Happy Valentine’s Day! This lovely couple, Susan and Howard Piggytoe, is celebrating 45 years together and is my contribution to the prompt: lovestruck frolicking pigs! I asked them what their one piece of love advice is and they said: “spend time in nature together.”Their favorite place to frolic is at where they spent a lot of time during the pandemic, smelling the roses and strolling around the duck pond.
