‘Art on Main Street’ is delighted to welcome John O Flynn back for the month of September. John is a visual artist based in Macroom. His work focuses on the ideas of old and new, through the exploration of such themes as the natural world, mythology and archaeology. The rich storytelling tradition in Ireland’s folklore has always influenced his work. John aims to value and continue this part of Irish culture in new different visual representations.

This month we have a local artist who lives and has his studio near Lissarda. Jack Cornhouse is a well known landscape artist and portrait painter who takes commission work not just of people but also of animals. Jack is closely connected to the Independence Museum in Kilmurry where ten years ago he was commissioned to undertake a painting which was presented to President Michael D Higgins. Just three years ago, he donated another larger life size painting of Kate O Callaghan TD to the Museum where it is now on display. Talking of displays, some of Jack's landscapes and urban scenes will be included in his current exhibition here at Art...on Main Street for the month of August.

‘Art on Main Street’ is delighted to see Ms Noran Lehane return to the studio with this beautiful new collection for the month of July. Noran is a local artist originally from Macroom and is greatly inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent and Nicolai Fechin. The collection is a vivid and colourful display with the intentional brush strokes evident throughout. Be sure to call in to the studio to see this beautiful collection, open Fridays and Saturdays or by appointment.

This collection is a stunning display of colour and creativity, Una uses felt and wool to push the boundaries and have fun. The month of May sees the return of local Textile Artist Catherine Hurley. Catherine originally from Belfast who now lives in Macroom has been working on this new collection since the previous display in ‘Art on Main Street’. Catherine’s work is inspired by her local area and she uses natural materials to capture the beauty in her surroundings - be sure to call in and see this beautiful collection.
