🥁🥁🥁 DRUMROLL PLEASE! 🥁🥁🥁

The winner of the Towers & Tales Design Your School’s Book Monster Competition 2026 is...

🏆 4th Class from Newtown Junior School! 🏆

We were blown away by the creativity, imagination and talent on display from this school, but one hungry little monster chomped its way to the top! 💚📚

👾 Meet The Chapter Chomper, aka "Chomp"!
"Chomp has eight te****les and one large eye for keeping a close eye on the school’s library books. He is eight years old and grows a new te****le every year! He is so hungry he can’t get enough books. He would absolutely love some new books.
Our Book Monster is made out of clay and wood. He is painted green because our school is very sustainable and we like to swap and share the books we love."

Made with incredible imagination and creativity, Chomp captured exactly what we love about reading - curiosity, creativity, fun and a never-ending appetite for books! 📖✨

As the winning entry, Newtown Junior School will receive over €1,000 worth of new books for their library, thanks to the support of Waterford Libraries and in collaboration with Children’s Books Ireland.

🎉 A huge congratulations to all of 4th Class and their fantastic teacher on this outstanding achievement!

The Towers & Tales Book Gifting Programme is made possible through the generous support of our partners at Waterford Libraries and our wonderful donors.

👾📚 The Book Monsters Have Arrived! 📚👾

We have been absolutely blown away by the response to this year's Towers & Tales Design Your School's Book Monster Competition, run in partnership with Waterford Libraries.

Every year, one lucky school is selected to receive a brand-new library of books through our Book Gifting Programme, and this year's entries made choosing a winner more difficult than ever! 💚

From wild and wacky creatures to colourful and clever creations, we received an incredible collection of Book Monsters from schools all across the county. The imagination, creativity and personality on display were simply outstanding. 🌈✨

With so many joyful and inspired entries, our judges had a very tough task on their hands. We were so impressed by the talent and effort shown by every student who took part in the competition to win over €1,000 worth of books for their school library.

🏆 While we can only have one overall winner (to be announced on Thursday! 👀), we simply had to celebrate our amazing runners-up, each of whom will receive a special book bundle in recognition of their fantastic efforts.

🎉 Congratulations to our 2026 Runners-Up:
📖 Aglish N.S. – Junior & Senior Infants
📖 Fenor N.S. – 2nd Class
📖 Modeligo N.S. – 1st, 2nd & 3rd Classes
📖 Passage East N.S. – 1st & 2nd Classes
📖 St Michael's N.S., Ballyduff – 3rd Class

👏 Well done to all the students and teachers involved. We loved every single entry and can't wait to reveal our overall winner on Thursday!
