Wildebeest Theatre Company (On the Wire - 2014) are presenting a new site-specific work 'Separation' which will be performed in The Park Kiosk (People's Park) There are only eight audience members per show- Booking essential.

It's Limerick, 1915. The women are running riot all over town. Word has it, that a bunch of Fenian soldiers are marching down Mungret Street and there’s a lawlessness in town! They must be stopped! ‘We must defend our Separation pensions!’ shouts one woman as she hurls a rock at a Fenian soldier.

Separation focuses on the stories of Maggie Bridgeman and Laura Daly, two neighbours on opposite sides, who’s secret meeting place is a to***co kiosk. As the years roll by, outside forces and their own ideals cause tension. Separation is a story about two women during Ireland’s most turbulent period in history; as wives are separated from husbands, daughters separated from mothers and neighbours separated from neighbours. A story centring on the instrumental role many women played in the formation of the Irish Free State.

Separation is directed by Shane Whisker, a seasoned site-specific theatre practitioner, who will work in collaboration with LOVE/HATE actress Susan Loughnane and FAIR CITY's Eilis O’Donnell.

Play development has been supported by Fishamble: The New Play Company’s New Play Clinic Scheme with Mike Finn as script supervisor. Separation has been funded by Limerick City and County Arts Office as part of The Park Kiosk Residency Scheme.

Our friends at Dance Limerick have asked us to let all the On the Wire fans know about their new show which opens at The Sailor's Home this Thursday, 26th March. "Marble & Bread" is a beautiful new dance theatre piece, conceived and choreographed by Megan Kennedy, inspired by stories from the archives of St Joseph's Hospital in Limerick. Like On the Wire, Marble & Bread will be presented as a promenade performance, so the audience will follow the scenes from room to room in The Sailor's Home. We were lucky enough to see a run through of Marble & Bread on Friday and found it compelling, moving and beautifully performed by a super cast. And that was in the rehearsal space! So it will no doubt be further enhanced when it moves into the beautiful surroundings of The Sailor's Home this week. Performances at 6pm and 8pm on Thurs 26th, Fri 27th and Sat 28th March. Audience gathers at Willie Sexton's Pub, Henry St, before each performance. Space is limited, so we advise advance booking. Tickets €12/€10.
