Stanzas: Poetry, Prose & Art Stanzas is an event for emerging writers to express themselves, develop their craft, and meet interesting, like-minded people. What is Stanzas, we hear you ask.

Ah, but that's an ephemeral question all the same. Stanzas is... a home. A home for writers to sit together and share words. A home for your writing through our monthly chapbooks. A home where you can feel comfortable, either sharing your work, or merely sitting back and listening to the words of others. Stanzas... is here, it's here to stay, and we want you to stay with us. On some of the more te

chnical details:

We take place on the third Friday of every month (mostly! Life sometimes interferes.) We hand-make chapbooks of literature and art, and if you want to be in it simply email us your submissions to [email protected]. Please note, submissions are themed from month to month, so keep an eye out for what we're looking for. We are social media gurus here at the Stanzas HQ. you can find us all over twitter, too if you go to twitter@StanzasLCK. Last but not least for our halloween feast, we have a segment from Elemental Tales presented by the Polish Arts Festival!

“Elemental Tales is a promenade performance consisting of four multi-disciplinary performance pieces that combine Slavic folk tales with Irish Fairy stories and draws parallels between the similarities of both traditions. The performers bring the characters to life through dance, storytelling, music, and mask. Here the Polish Arts Festival will take you on an imaginative journey through the four elements of Water, Air, Earth and Fire.”

Make sure you book your ticket as seating is extremely limited in the atmospheric Brewery.

Next up on our list of guest is James Corr!

James is a graduate of the BA Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies at Mary Immaculate. He has worked as a performer in Limerick since an early age. James has most recently finished his third season in King John's Castle as a tour guide and historical performer. He has a great love for mythology, history, and storytelling, and he is delighted to be sharing tales at Stanzas.

First up on our spooktacular night is Hilla Magia!

"Hilla Magia plays Finnish kantele music using loops and effects. The kantele is a traditional Finnish zither/table-harp. She incorporates many different genres and symbolism of nature as an inspiration in her playing. Her music combines a magical and calm atmosphere."

Definitely not to be missed, Hilla's music will guide us through the evening and is definitely a unique sound!

BACK FROM THE DEAD FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!

This Spooky Season, get your fix of poetry, storytelling, music, and theatre all at the iconic Treaty City Brewery on Nicholas St.

This year Stanzas has partnered with Lumen Street Theatre's Samhain Festival to deliver a spooktacular event jam packed with arty words! Come listen to the amazing readings, or bring your own poem and scare us with your talent!

Please note: this is a fancy dress event! If you don't have some kind of spooky costume, we will paint your face white and draw on a sad smile in eyeliner. You've been warned.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 27 - 8:00 pm start

Please also note, this event has a €5.00 entrance fee which you can pay through eventbrite (link in the comments). This is to ensure numbers, as the venue is teeeeeensy weeeeeensy tiny. Thanks!
