The Cecilian Musical Society was founded in 1919, and we provide opportunities for our members to develop on-stage, production, and backstage skills.

The Cecilian Musical Society was founded in 1919, and is one of the oldest societies of its kind in Ireland. The Cecilians aim to help its members develop on-stage, off-stage, and backstage skills. Our members are invited to take part in our yearly events, the pinnacle of which is our November production. The society also places emphasis on the social aspect for its members, with yearly events suc

h as 'Afternoon Tea', 'Golf Classic', and 'Christmas Party'

After two fantastic nights of auditions involving over 80 performers, we are absolutely delighted to officially announce the incredible cast for our upcoming production of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame! 🔔✨

A huge congratulations to all who were cast, and a sincere well done and thank you to every single person who auditioned. The standard across both nights was exceptional and a true reflection of the talent, passion and dedication within our society and the wider musical theatre community.

We also look forward to welcoming everyone wishing to be part of our ensemble when rehearsals begin this coming August — this promises to be a truly special production.

The Cecilian Musical Society is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Derbhile de Paor.

Derbhile was a beloved member, patron, and an incredible Musical Director of our society for many years. We were truly blessed to have experienced her immense talent, warmth, grace, and unwavering dedication to musical theatre as part of the Cecilian family.

Her passion for theatre and music lives on through her wonderful daughters, especially our own Clíodhna de Paor, who has continued her mother’s love of the stage within the society for so many years, giving audiences countless memorable performances along the way.

Derbhile gave so much to the Cecilian Musical Society, and her legacy within our society will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.

At this incredibly sad time, our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with all of Derbhile’s family, friends, and loved ones.
