Clown Noir

Clown Noir Simon Thompson, clown, bouffon, director and teacher. Clown Noir is a character performed by Simon Thompson. Workshops focus on Clown, Bouffon and Mask.

Currently lecturing at University Limerick, also a PhD candidate researching creative pedagogies through Mask and Clown. Most recently the trilogy of clown theatre shows written and played by Simon Thompson "This is me" Loves, Labours Lost" and "Nose Business" have toured worldwide. Simon is a multi award winning artist and has over 30 years experience performing and touring as a clown. Currently

he is a lecturer at the University of Limerick and a PhD candidate researching creative pedagogies through Mask and Clown. Simon Thompson also provides professional development training on a regular basis throughout Ireland, England, Europe and the U.S.

Writing about to start on the first of 3 new projects, this one is building on a my previous show 'Lifted Up'. Charlie has met Susan and things are about to change. Masks by Russell Dean, what follows now is an exciting few weeks of creative ideas, probably at a slower pace than normal. :)

The 3 projects I'm working on for 2021 are as follows:

"Blue by You" A fully masked and blended theatre show. A two hander, about love and friendship through the lens of A.S.D
(Live and Online)

"St Brendan's Voyage" A community engaged blended theatre show for children of all ages, with masks and puppets. In conjunction with Nenagh Arts Centre. (Live and Film)

"Noir's Sideshow" An in your face clown show for theatres and outdoor spaces, think of snake oil salesmen, dodgy ministers and freak-shows. Any common ground between world politics and the show is purely by chance. (Live and Naughty)
