Our Story
Riverfest 2019 attracted more than 120,000 people to the banks of the Shannon for the biggest celebration yet for the festival that has made the May Bank Holiday weekend its own. Bring on 2020!
The festival is a carnival of activity and variety, all based around the great waters of the majestic Shannon, with much of the high jinks on river itself.
Visitors travel from across the 32 counties and many also from abroad for a four day celebration that includes everything from high-octane water based activities across the weekend to the countryโs biggest fireworks display of the summer, its largest BBQ cook-off, celebrations of food and fashion, outdoor and indoor concerts and, of course, the Bon Secours Hospital Great Limerick Run.
Visit Riverfest.ie for the full festival line-up.

Fabulous whirlwind trip to Limerick with visits to the University of Limerick and LERO, The Hunt museum and the Riverfest Limerick! So many interesting discussions on sustainability, from the need to develop a climate curriculum for our students to renewable energy and smart cities. I learned a lot about the Viking history in Limerick and how they arrived 1100 years ago. The absolute highlight of my visit was welcoming the Limerick Dragons โ cancer survivors - to Curraghgour Boat Club together with Mayor Daniel Butler. I am so very grateful for all the kind people of Limerick who have received me with open arms and such hospitality. Thank you to each and every one!
