From our Chairman Dan McCarthy

A big heartfelt thank you from Anglesboro Drama Group to everyone who came out and supported our five-night run of Dancing at Lughnasa. Your presence and encouragement mean everything to us—without our audience, there simply is no show.

There is a real sense of satisfaction among the cast and crew in having brought this wonderful piece of drama to the stage. This achievement is the result of four months of hard work, dedication, and commitment from every single person involved—from those on stage to those behind the scenes.

A heartfelt thank you to our director, Jim Keane, for his guidance and tireless efforts throughout the production. We are grateful for our cast, whose passion and commitment shone through in every performance. We would also like to sincerely thank our set-building team, including artists Dmitrii and Olena, whose creativity helped create an authentic stage setting. Our thanks also go to the local volunteers and Community Council for their continued support.

Finally, huge congratulations to Aidan Maunsell on winning the President's Prize for his outstanding contribution to drama over the past year—a well-deserved recognition of his dedication to our group.

We are grateful to be part of a community that supports local drama and believes in the power of storytelling. It is this shared passion that makes what we do possible. Till next time ...

To do justice to a production like “Dancing at lughnasa“, a drama group needs someone with exceptional talent in directing. We have been extremely lucky to have Jim Keane at the helm for the past number of years. He has so many strings to his bow - writer, actor, make up artist, set design etc, etc.
His vision, guidance, attention to detail and drive for perfection in every aspect of a production is second to none. We absolutely love working with him and he is a total gentleman.
A thousand thanks to you Jim. Long may you travel the road to Anglesboro.

And that’s a wrap folks!!! As the curtain comes down on our 2026 production, may we take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who joined us over the past 5 nights. We very much appreciate it. Thanks to all who helped out backstage, front of house and with parking. The show could not run without all your help. A special mention to Theresa Martin, who has been feeding us for the past few weeks. Thank you so much, there are definitely a few kgs that will need shifting in the coming weeks. Until next time ….. good night and good luck 😀

The annual president’s award was presented at the end of last nights show. This year, Aidan Maunsell was the worthy recipient of this award. Aidan does Trojan work on the set design for every show and his trade skills are invaluable to the group. We take great pride in our set design for each show and this year has been no exception. Aidan also acts as wingman to stage manager Maurice O Connor nightly and for all he does, that is why he is this years winner. Congratulations and thank you. 👏👏👏👏👏

Two very important people in the show are young actor Emmet Boland, who is a little superstar and playing a blinder on the stage and the main man, director Jim Keane, who adds the sparkle and shine and brings the production to life.
