Donegal Youth Musical Theatre - DYMT

Donegal Youth Musical Theatre - DYMT DYMT is the the North West's brand new Musical Theatre company for young people aged 11 to 21. Production and auditions to be announced soon.

Our main goal is to produce large scale musicals, with the finest talent from across County Donegal, and its neighbouring counties. Our cast will have the chance to experience the performing arts industry as we rehearse over a three week block of intensive summer rehearsals before staging a high class production in one of the North West's finest theatres. DYMT's inaugural production will be staged in the An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny, in August 2017.

21/01/2020

After three incredible years of theatre-making, and bringing professional opportunities to the North West, DYMT comes to the end of its final chapter. From our first production of Phantom of the Opera, to the war torn streets of our award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar and our 2019 revival of Oliver, along with our Masterclass Series and weekly Stage School Academy, I am very proud of everything that we have achieved and moreover, of all of our incredible students who embraced the intensity of the training with endless energy, passion and care, and who we’ve seen grow and excel both at home and now in the UK.

I would like to extend the most sincere thank you to all of our DYMT Creatives and Tutors - especially to our core team of Herta, Amy and Sinead - and indeed all of our technical teams, sponsors, DYMT families and An Grianan Theatre for all the love they poured into our company over the years. We have precious memories to remember for years to come.

However, when one book closes, another opens - and what an exciting adventure that’s going to be. From February 2020, Irish Youth Musical Theatre rolls out across the country, under the patronage of Irish Musical Theatre royalty, Colm Wilkinson, and in partnership with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. I hope that all of our incredible DYMT students will join us at IYMT - your new National Musical Theatre Training Company - and continue to fly the Donegal flag.

- Séimí Campbell (Artistic Director, Irish Youth Musical Theatre)

WHO WILL BUY THIS WONDERFUL FEELING??

Now that the dust has settled and the post show blues have eased, we would like to congratulate our incredible 2019 National Company on creating such a powerful and impactful production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver. It has been such a pleasure to create this special piece of theatre together - a story that is very close to our own homes and hearts. Thank you to our wonderful cast for all of their endless enthusiasm, care and sensitivity in bringing our world of Oliver to life, to our Creative and Technical teams for their guiding hands, and to our five wonderful sold out audiences for supporting the next generation of Irish Musical Theatre artists.

Let us all continue to create authentic musical theatre experiences in Ireland and help, nourish and showcase the outstanding talent that exists on Irish shores.

We are now taking a break from our Junior Stage School Academy for the coming academic year, but have a number of very exciting masterclasses and projects to share with you very soon...
