We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Elmarie Mawe.

Elmarie was an extraordinary champion of the arts in Cork. Through The Arts House, and through her enormous personal warmth, curiosity and enthusiasm, she gave a platform to countless artists, organisations and events across the city and county.

We were very lucky to be among them.

Elmarie was always so generous to Kinsale Arts Weekend, always interested, always encouraging, and always willing to give us her time and support. For a festival finding and growing its place in Cork’s cultural life, that kindness meant more than she may ever have known.

Her contribution to the arts in Cork over more than 25 years is immeasurable, but so too is the affection in which she was held by the people whose work she championed.

Our deepest sympathies are with her husband Conor, her family, friends and colleagues, and with the enormous community of artists and arts organisations who will feel her loss.

Thank you, Elmarie, for always being in our corner.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

We can’t believe it’s been one month since ! One month ago we kicked off the 10th anniversary of our festival and it was such a magical weekend.

As we reflect on the Arts Weekend we want to send a huge thank you to everyone who made it possible. Volunteers, artists, partners and community members — we couldn’t have done this without you.

We are already looking forward to next year! Here’s to 10 more years 🥂

We are delighted to share that award winning filmmaker David Bickley’s film “Freak Ninth Wave” has been selected for Institute for Experimental Arts’s International Video Poetry Festival in Athens. Commissioned for the Kinsale Arts Weekend in 2025, this short film explored that year’s theme of the Ninth Wave.

We are so grateful and proud to see art flourish beyond the festival! Congratulations to David and his team.

If you joined us at The Post House Coffee & Wine Bar during Kinsale Arts Weekend, you’ll know what a special conversation this was.

We’re delighted to share that the live recording of the podcast is now available to listen to on Spotify.

Hosted by Suzy Brown and Sinéad Moynihan, the episode features a thoughtful and engaging conversation with writer Gilly McArthur - Cold Water Swim Coach 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, alongside a beautiful live performance from Sound Waves Choir. Recorded by the brilliant Finn Sedas, it captures the warmth, curiosity and sense of connection that filled the room that afternoon.

Whether you were there to experience it live or are discovering it for the first time, we hope you’ll enjoy listening back.

The streets were alive at Kinsale Arts Weekend 🎭

These street spectacles brought music, dance and plenty of fun to the streets of Kinsale during the Arts Weekend. A big thank you to everyone who threw themselves into the céilí and helped create such a joyful atmosphere. It really captures what KAW is all about – people not just watching, but becoming part of the experience.

Here’s a look back at some of the performances that helped bring the town to life!

Tucked away among the fields outside Kinsale is Ballycatteen Studios – a place of making, conversation and creative exchange.

Thank you to Anne Ffrench, José Díaz and the resident artists for welcoming us into your studios and sharing your work, your stories and your generosity with everyone who joined yesterday’s Studio Encounters.

Artist-led spaces like this are where ideas are nurtured, practices evolve and creative communities take root. They are an essential part of our cultural landscape, and we feel incredibly lucky to have Ballycatteen on our doorstep.

We left inspired, and excited to follow the next chapter of everything that grows from this extraordinary place. 🌿

Today is your final chance to experience Happenstance: Variations, the exhibition by Eilís O’Connell at Kinsale Library.

One of Ireland’s most celebrated artists, O’Connell’s work explores space, balance and material with extraordinary sensitivity. It has been a privilege to present this beautiful exhibition as part of Kinsale Arts Weekend.

The exhibition closes today at 5.30pm. If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet, we’d love to welcome you.

There are hundreds of moments that make up a festival, and so many of them happen quietly, behind the scenes.

Welcoming audiences, moving chairs, answering questions, stewarding exhibitions, setting up, packing down, solving problems before anyone even notices them.

To every one of our volunteers – thank you.

Your generosity, warmth and energy helped shape Kinsale Arts Weekend in ways both seen and unseen. We are so grateful you chose to be part of it. ❤️
