Lee Tiller - Artist This is the website of contemporary impressionist artist Lee Tiller. "Colour is my everyday obsession" It's my oxygen, simple as that.

I paint for the love of art, because of the whispers from the 19th Century French Impressionists, and ultimately I paint because I must! Almost my entire adult life Lee Tiller I have enjoyed an uninterrupted working relationship with ‘Light’. I have painted since I could hold a brush, and then in my early 20’s as a professional lighting designer, and now at 62 as a professional painter. I adore th

e process of creating art, the anticipation and excitement of a blank canvas and the challenge of placing marks on a flat two dimensional surface in an attempt to convince the viewer that a third dimension exists.”

I believe that art transcends verbal communication. It is a silent conversation, yet forms a connection between two minds that are, as of yet, unknown to each other. The phrase ‘Show don’t Tell’ might be a familiar piece of American colloquialism, but in Art it couldn’t be more honest or truthful.”

My paintings are constructed from flickering impressionist daubs of oil paint and nuanced colour combinations, sometimes layered, other times juxtaposed yet all resonating with a chromatic harmony. I liken it to the rich and full resonance of a twelve string guitar chord. Hidden within my brushstrokes are the reflected colours of nature that might otherwise remain hidden to our jaded 21st Century eyes. Nature is timeless and art gives life meaning. Some of you might have noticed that I've not posted any new art recently. Unfortunately it was necessary for me to undergo additional and more complex spine surgery in March. The upshot is that I can't currently stand for more than 15 minutes to 30 without overwhelming pain.

However, I do have about 10 new paintings to show but at present I can't lift my photographic gear. So, in the meantime, I welcome your patience and covet any comments of support. Thank you x

My last painting of 2025 (probably)

This year has certainly been challenging for me with regards to my health, but I guess it all pales to insignificance when compared to the plight of the Palestinian and Ukrainian people. My heart breaks for them, and we do what we can to help.

Here amidst the mountains of Kerry, my studio space has become a place of solace and comfort and I'm never happier than when standing at my easel, brush in hand, watching a new world unfold from a blank canvas.

This oil painting is on a 20" x 16" stretched canvas. I've given it the title 'return to the roost' which I feel works metaphorically and literally. It conveys a sense of comfort, tranquility and safety.

The painting is available to buy. Just send me a quick message.

Warmest wishes, Lee

Special for Christmas!

I've had a few requests to view the painting in its entirety, so for those of you out there, here it is. I toyed with the name a few times but settled on 'Profusion One' so who knows, will there be a Profusion Two? Perhaps a Three etc?

Oil on canvas
70cm x 50cm stretched canvas

The painting is created using a combination of brush and palette knife techniques so theres a lot of impasto involved. It should be dry for Christmas and it is at a very special price. Just ask.

I think this one will hang on my studio wall if it doesn't find a forever home.
