Statement from the Producers of This Day

Punkhouse Productions Ltd. are no longer involved in the continuation of the feature film production of 'This Day'. Due to a lack of funds available to complete production and continuity issues arising due to the time that has passed since initial shooting began, we are no longer in a position to continue with producing the feature film.

Naturally, we the producers, are very disappointed in not seeing the journey of the feature film through to completion as we worked very hard on what would be labeled as a passion project for the past few years. We also recognise the hard work, talent and time of the cast and crew and also the local people, the extras and family, and friends who were and are part of this story. We hope Pat will find a way to have his film produced for the screen and see this very necessary film deservedly come to life and we wish him and the future team much success.

Not forgetting the great footage recorded, and on a more positive note, the plan is to now turn what was shot into a short film to be ready later this year. We would like to thank everyone who helped us at the time of pre-production and filming including the cast and crew, local people, the community, local businesses, friends and family, who were and are all very supportive. We will continue to support the feature and wish it all the best on its journey. We look forward to completing the short film and will keep people posted on the progress.

I wanted to put out a post at this time because it will be the last post that I will write that will look back at the This Day journey to date. From here, at the start of 2019, I will be posting very regularly on this page and the website, documenting in detail the journey of creating a feature film, going forward.

In many ways it has been great, wonderful people came forward and with their talents and hard work, pushed this project with all they had. Others supported with contributions and good wishes because they believed we were making a film worth making.

But there have been obstacles and unforeseen challenges I just didn’t see coming and so, at this time in the story cycle, we find ourselves at the “Revelation” stage of the Joseph Campbell “Hero’s Journey” paradigm. Abyss – Death and Rebirth. Every good story has that time, without it, the story is missing something very essential. So this is our low point, when it’s hard to see the light, hard to believe the sun will come up again. But it will because that’s my creed, my faith. The only thing you get to hang onto, when there’s little else. My family and true friends have been rocks in this journey, reinforcing my faith in people when that too was shaken to the core.

If I know anything about myself I know this, I love when I have something to push against. The fact is this film project has become more ambitious than ever and I and others have doubled down on our determination to see it through. It’s no longer about breathing life into an important film, it’s now about core values and beliefs, about the legacy you leave behind and about understanding that quitting is not an option, no matter what. Nothing is ever achieved without hard work. Talent is good, luck too, but on their own actually count for little in comparison to graft. So through the This Day page I will be making regular updates, documenting this journey to the end. I hope you stay with that journey, together we’ll see it through.

Merry Christmas and I hope you achieve your hopes and dreams in 2019.

If you ever find yourself wondering "how can banks be so callous" remember this story... "At one major investment bank for which I worked, we used psychometric testing to recruit social psychopaths because their characteristics exactly suited them to senior corporate finance roles."

Here was one of the biggest investment banks in the world seeking psychopaths as recruits.
