Each piece is handmade by me with love! Why quilling I hear you ask? I had always enjoyed making things with paper as a child and I started to google paper art. x

The What - I create pictures using strips of paper and glue. Rocket science, it ainβt. Fiddly and time consuming, it most definitely is. The technique is called Quilling and involves rolling, coiling, folding and generally manipulating the paper strips to make a detailed picture. The exact origin is unclear but itβs thought that in the 16th and 17th centuries French and Italian nuns used it as an inexpensive alternative to metal to decorate objects and by the 18th century was it thought to young ladies of leisure in boarding schools.
The Why - Well there I was in lockdown, going slowly nuts and needing a distraction from all the doom and gloom! I got to thinking about stuff I enjoyed doing when I was a child and making things with paper was always a favourite. I started to google paper art and got lost down a rabbit hole for a while. Anyway, I came upon quilling and decided to give it a go and I gotta tell you, I loved it and ended up spending many, many hours making pictures and trying out new designs. When Iβm working on a picture, I get completely lost in what Iβm doing and forget about everything else. So, here I am only months later creating a page, lifeβs funny that way.
I hope you enjoy my creations and thanks for your interest!
