Not long till our first ever outdoor live performance event…. ‘But what if the weather is bad?!’ I hear you say…. Don’t worry pet we have it covered and we will simply put the acts on in the hall. Hopefully it won’t come to that…. But you know how the Irish weather is these days…. One minute your putting on sunscreen the next minute it’s hailstones 😝

🎭 Just 1 Week to Go Until Culture Corner! 🎭

We had a fantastic meeting with all our performers and chaperones this week as preparations continue for Culture Corner next Sunday.

A huge thank you to all the artists, performers and volunteers taking part, including:

Culture Corner is a free, open-air celebration of local culture, creativity and community. Similar events take place in villages across Ireland, bringing people together to enjoy live music, theatre, storytelling and performance in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The idea for these open-air events gained popularity during the Covid years when communities were looking for safe ways to enjoy live entertainment. We think it’s such a wonderful concept that it’s worth keeping alive long after those restrictions have passed.

We’d love for you to come along, enjoy some of the performances, share your feedback, and maybe even join us for a chat and a drink afterwards.

The Kildalkey Drama Group is proud to host the very first Culture Corner. A free evening celebrating local creativity, culture, and community spirit.

Join us for a night filled with:

This is a completely new event for the village and we’d love the community to come together and support it. Whether you’d like to sit back and enjoy the entertainment, meet new people, or simply soak up the atmosphere, everyone is welcome.

The village will be chaperoned throughout the evening, making it a relaxed and family friendly night for all ages.

Fancy Trying Something Different This Autumn?

We’re holding auditions for three short plays we are putting on this autumn.

Whether you’ve always wanted to try acting, want to meet new people, build confidence, or just have a laugh and do something different… this could be for you.

There are:
Plenty of male roles available
Opportunities in props & set creation
Creative backstage work
A great social atmosphere
No experience needed

Not into acting? We also need people who enjoy building and creating props, helping backstage, and being part of the team.

Drama groups aren’t just about being on stage it’s a great way to way to get involved with the community in a creative way and great craic!

Come along, give it a go, and see what it’s all about.

A look back at some of the rehearsals from our production Charm Offensive in April. Over the 5 months a LOT of work goes on behind the scenes and not just actors learning lines… although that is kinda handy! The crew completely renovated the stage, changed & painting walls, a bar was built that could double up as a coffee shop counter and a pub bar, optics and shelves built for the pub, stools, signs, lights & props all created to set the scene for the actors and for the audience to be submerged into the story.
If you think drama groups are for sitting around reading hamlet think again! 🤓 Anyone who can use a drill, a hammer, happy to pick up a paintbrush, or interested in how a sound desk and lighting works is welcome to join in or help out with our upcoming productions.
