Kells Theatre is a state of the art theatre located in the heart of Kells Town Centre. Hosting a variety of pantomimes, plays and musicals from the long tenured Kells Musical and Dramatic Society 1976, as well as many travelling production companies and local drama groups. The theatre hosts Bingo every Friday night at 8:30pm.

KELLS MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC SOCIETY’76 - WE ARE HAVING A ‘GOLDEN BALL’ TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS IN SHOW BUSINESS!!! On Saturday 31st October 2026
Having glanced at the above headline, it’s hard to believe that it’s 50 years since the Kells Musical and Dramatic society was formed and staged our first show ‘’ The last, last show ‘’ all those years ago. Since 1976 the society has grown in members and at present there are over 190 actively involved. We stage an annual pantomime; Musicals, show stoppers shows, one act and three act plays and Pageants. But it is of course for our spectacular entertaining pantomimes that we are renowned.
I now take this opportunity to invite all past and present members and friends to join us in celebrating this very special occasion.
Our goal is to invite everyone who was involved in any of the panto’s and shows to this once in a life time reunion, where you can meet and chat to old acquaintances and friends that you may not have seen or heard from in years.
Our Golden anniversary ball is set for Saturday 31st October in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells at 7.30pm sharp. Tickets are €60 and black tie is optional.
We begin with a celebration dinner, a cabaret, dancing to live band and to finish the evening off [in the wee early hours] with a fab disco.
We will have a photo exhibition on the night along with a dvd full of members memories and chat.
If anyone has any old photo’s for the exhibition please put your name on the back of them and send them to John Grant and he will make sure you get them back.
We would appreciate very much if you could spread the word about this great occasion so we can have as many as we can to celebrate with us. As well as the dinner and cabaret and dvd and photo exhibition we will a fun photo booth, a drinks reception and everyone will have their photo taken on arrival.
We are anticipating that it will be an unforgettable night of reminiscing and we hope to have a couple of surprises in store!

THE SNOW QUEEN
Kells Musical Society celebrates 50 years on the boards. Calling all performers of all ages to come and join us for our special anniversary Pantomime ‘The Snow Queen’ to be staged in February 2027. We need teen dancers for great and exciting routines along with Singers and actors. The society invites you to join them for this special show written by John Grant. The show will consist of acting, singing and dancing and is open to our current members and we especially welcome new talent and anyone wishing to join. There are plenty of parts for all and great fun guaranteed. If you don’t want to go on stage you might like to help out in other ways such as - Stage Crew / Stewarding / Front of House / Booking Office Etc. It’s great to be part of this wonderful society. Rehearsal Registration and script reading will take place on Tuesday 6th October in Old Eureka School Hall, Navan Rd. Children Registration at 7pm. Teens and Adults at 8pm. Further details of script and singing auditions on the night. It promises to be a great show displaying all the talents of the performers who will get involved. Its a great privilege to be invited by Kells Arts Club as a guest to speak on 50years of Kells Musical and Dramatic Society '76 on how it began and its history to date. and sing my original songs from the show we staged at Culture Night this Friday 18th Sept '26. Hi Everyone, John Grant here on behalf of Kells Musical Society committee members, I wish to say a big thank you to everyone who supported our Summer Raffle. Of course we sincerely thank all the wonderful, business and shops and individuals who donated and sponsored our raffle prizes. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and a special thanks to our friends in Supervalu Kells for allowing us to sell our lines outside. The Committee of Kells Musical and Dramatic Society 1976 invite all our past and present members to join us for short group video interviews to help celebrate our 50th Golden Anniversary Ball on October 31st in Headfort Arms Hotel Kells. We want all of our previous casts, and crews of all our Pantos, Plays, Musicals, Show stoppers, variety shows, Pageants, Passion Plays along with our sponsors, front of house, stewards, pit singers, stage managers and stage crew, prompters, backstage helpers, make up, prop makers, costumes, choreographers, past committee members to join us this coming Saturday 15th August in Eureka Hall from 12 noon on. Helping children live their theatre dream!!!
ENROLEMENT IS NOW UNDERWAY FOR 2026/2027
Kells Theatre School is now entering its twenty-sixth year with very successful workshops and end of year productions. Some of last year’s show items were, our mini musical ‘THE LITTLE MERMAID’ ‘Snow White and Shrek'’ Comedy sketches chorus singing and solos Along with show and pop medleys and poems. The students acted, Danced and sang well known show and pop songs and solo singers got their chance to shine. The aim of the school is to introduce children and teens to every aspect of ‘Theatre’ for example: Acting, singing, dance and storytelling and creative writing, mime, voice training and of course performance. We have a very experienced team with Drama tutor in John Grant, singing tutor Kathleen Mc Govern, creative story telling and writing Gaye Grant and Helena Sheridan our dance tutor along with our assistants -Brian O Neill, Seamus Ennis, Emer Gogarty and Linda Grant. The school was very proud to publish a book of stories written by the students during the creative class. The students will be given this over all view allowing them to discover for themselves which area of theatre is best suited to their abilities and skills as well as promoting self confidence. The over all aim is to provide a knowledge and appreciation of drama and dance and create an opportunity for the students to perform and have an active role in our end of year gala show to be staged in May 2027. production.
Who can participate? Children from 6 years to 16 years.
This is a wonderful time to get involved in theatre as there are a lot of opportunities around not to mention having a lot of fun while making new friends and exploring your talents. There will be 3 terms to the year.
