Andreas is originally from northeastern Germany but has found his permanent home in Ireland since 2001. As a landscape photographer, his location in south Galway is a dream come true.

Andreas holds a special passion for fine art photography, with his work encompassing many genres - from candid to portrait, editorial, travel, fashion and more.

Last day of our Member's Exhibition today! We've had a wonderful reaction to it, thank you to everyone who has come to support us so far. We are open 12pm to 6pm today, we'd be delighted to see you.

We are gearing up for another busy weekend at our Members' Exhibition! If you haven't been yet it's your last chance to see it. It is open from 10am-6pm on Friday 26th September, and 12-6pm on 27th-28th September. We'd be delighted to see you there, and you might grab yourself a bit of local art!

✨✨ Artist Spotlight Series ✨✨

Artist: MAVIS GORMALLY
Discipline: Oil on canvas

Mavis Gormally is a South Galway–based fine artist celebrated for luminous landscapes, coastlines, cottages, and boats. Originally from New York and a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, she paints both outdoors (plein air) and in her home studio near Gort.

A member of Gort Arts, Mavis is currently showing work in the Members' Exhibition at Kennedy’s Pottery Studio, Boland’s Lane, Gort (3 days remaining - 26-28th September from 12-6pm).

Her paintings have also been featured in solo and group exhibitions, with pieces held in private collections across Europe and the U.S.

A dedicated teacher, she offers classes for adults, young artists, and private groups, and leads weekly sessions at Gort Cancer Support. Her popular plein air workshops help students capture the changing light and mood of the Irish countryside.

Lidia's practice centres on figures, portraits, and plants, as they strive to develop a visual language that preserves an emotional connection with the figure while leaving space for viewers to form their own subjective interpretations.

When asked why they paint, the artist describes it as an irresistible compulsion—an essential part of their life. Painting offers them a fluid way to explore what remains unsaid. Through the act of creating an image, they express what is difficult to articulate in words and investigate the fragility of the human condition. Painting becomes a way to reconcile the inability to pause the relentless movement of time and the brevity of life by capturing a fleeting moment of joy or beauty.

We’re so excited for the opening of our exhibition tomorrow - here’s Agnes from our Health & Safety crew! She'll be there on the night - don't miss it!
The launch is at 7pm, with music by One Voice choir, and Marijke & The Wayfarers. Refreshments, atmosphere, and Art of course! Do come along, it promises to be a magical evening.
