🎭✨ Mid-Summer Magic: Celebrating Theatre in Wexford ✨🎭

This summer, five of Wexford's most successful drama groups come together for one special night at Gorey Little Theatre.

Following an incredible year that saw Ballycogley Players, Bridge Drama, Bunclody-Kilmyshall Drama Group, Wexford Drama Group, and ourselves at Gorey Little Theatre all reach the All-Ireland Drama Finals, we're joining forces to celebrate the talent, passion, and creativity that makes Wexford theatre so special.

Expect an evening of entertainment, storytelling, laughter, and a showcase of the remarkable work being created across the county.

Throughout this year's festival season, all groups have been overwhelmed by the support we've received from audiences across Wexford and beyond. Mid-Summer Magic is our chance to celebrate an extraordinary year for theatre in the county, while also giving something back to the community that has supported us every step of the way.

All proceeds from the evening will go to Pieta House, helping to support the vital work they do for people and families across Ireland.

Table reads are back! Next Monday at 7:30 in Gorey Little Theatre.

We will also be holding some very informal auditions for a short play (under 10 mins).

The play has three characters.

1M 2F ages anywhere from 18-99 the cast just all need to be around the same age!

It will be directed by Craig Bodger

We're delighted to introduce the cast of our summer production:

One of Ireland’s most loved comedy plays, It’s the Real McCoy is packed with razor sharp humour, chaos, gossip, family feuds, and larger than life characters. Set in rural Ireland in 1964, the play follows the formidable Madge Molloy as her long lost husband suddenly returns home after disappearing for forty years, and the entire parish has opinions on it.

This is a BIG, bold Irish comedy with fantastic comic characters and plenty of opportunities for performers who love broad comedy, strong character work, timing, physicality, and fun.

Please allow approximately 90 minutes as auditions will take place in workshop form.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Madge Molloy (50–70)
A stubborn, dominant mother made of steel. Massive role. Fierce, sharp, controlling, and absolutely central to the play.

Maura Molloy (30–50)
Madge’s feckless daughter. They share an adversarial relationship. Loves herself nearly as much as she loves drama.

Martin Daly (30–50)
A lovable idiot. The local postman who is deeply in love with Maura and dreams of marrying her.

Tom Molloy (50–70)
A wayward wanderer who vanished for forty years and suddenly returns home with some uncomfortable truths.

Father Michael McCoy (40–80)
The local parish curate. A lover of local news, politics, gossip, and peace-broking.

Nora O’Hora (45+)
The classic nosey neighbour and negative nelly of the parish.

Cora O’Hora (20s)
Nora’s daughter. Loves gossip just as much as her mother, though she’s not exactly the brightest spark.

🎭 The acting style required is very much broad comedy with strong characters, big energy, and excellent comic timing.
