Looking forward to visiting this special exhibition at Queens University Belfast.

We are excited to tell you about a new exhibition entitled:

Molly St George: Lacemaking and Irish Traditional Music

This collaborative exhibition has been developed by Headford Lace Project in collaboration with Special Collections & Archives at Queen’s University Belfast.

The exhibition celebrates the ancient harp tune and song “Mailigh San Seoirse” (Molly St George), which holds historical and cultural significance for Headford, Co. Galway, a town whose lace industry was established in the eighteenth century. Drawing on materials from the Headford Lace Project alongside manuscripts from the Edward Bunting Collection held at Queen’s, the exhibition explores connections between music and craft across the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

The unique exhibition will run from 3 June until 31 August 2026 in the McClay Library, Queen’s University Belfast and we do hope you get an opportunity to visit.
