Here’s a thing…the piano trade has a load of pretty filthy skeletons in the closet- close links to the slave trade and ivory use, and massive use of ‘exotic’ timber from Africa and South America both in construction and veneer being the major culprit. Thankfully pianos last a long time, and there are lots of us doing what we can to extend their lives even further…
Now ABEL HAMMER COMPANY are introducing bamboo for hammers and hammer shanks, taking at least some of the hardwood out of the equation. Admittedly it comes with travel miles, but at least we’re waking up…
