Fans, you know her well and we are delighted to welcome Niceol Blue to Oulu in this historic 2026 year of Irish culture.

Niceol Blue is a storyteller in song and spoken word.

A singer, songwriter, writer, improviser and storyteller, she grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the US; an environment that helped to shape all of her artforms. Niceol is a published musician, poet and writer, with award-winning work that has been described as 'exceptionally moving'. Now at home in Galway, Ireland, Niceol is a founding member of The Moth and Butterfly Storytelling Collective, and can often be found singing songs and telling stories to audiences worldwide.

Órla Mc Govern in ❤️

Storytelling has long been a popular aspect of our festival and we are happy to engage, inspire and participate in one of the oldest forms of oral tradition still practiced today. Let's welcome Órla Mc Govern.

Órla Mc Govern is an award-winning Storyteller, Performer, Writer and Facilitator based in Galway, Ireland. She performs and teaches around the world from arena stages, to cottages, from the Antrim Glens to the Finnish Forests. Órla works regularly in improvisation, film and television and is the Artistic Director of The Moth & Butterfly Storytelling collective and festival. As a writer, she makes work for stage and film and has two books of stories for children. She’s been a member of Interface Inagh, Praxis, and Storytellers of Ireland. She is delighted to be back in Oulu.

Heartfelt thanks to all the team in that hosted Fed For European Storytelling conference this year. Wonderful workshops, panels and conversations. The Irish organisation members were very well represented and everyone is looking forward to in Dublin ‘Stories From The Edge’ hosted by The National Leprechaun Museum in association with Storytellers of Ireland The torch was handed over to the Irish representatives by the Swedish team in a beautiful evening of food, friends, traditional music and songs from many nations.
