🌿 If not now, then when?

It’s that time of year when the light begins to soften and summer slowly gives way to autumn. Our attention often starts to turn inwards — and it can be a lovely time to return to or begin practices that help us slow down, listen to our bodies and take care of ourselves.

Join us The Crossroads in Cong for a 10-week journey of gentle movement, breath and self-care.

This is a practice that encourages you to listen to your own body, move at your own pace and meet yourself with kindness and compassion. Through yoga, breathwork, relaxation and mindful self-care practices, we’ll create space to pause, soften and return to yourself.

A weekly pause to step out of the busyness and come back to yourself.

All levels, shapes & sizes welcome — whether you’re new to yoga, returning after a break or have been practising for years.

Tuesdays, 10am–11.30am | From 22nd September
Spaces are limited — booking essential.

What a lovely opening of Continuum—it was wonderful to catch up with so many old friends and colleaguse and celebrate such a strong and diverse exhibition. I'm proud to be part of it.

It felt especially meaningful to be exhibiting in the same building where I studied Fine Art and first showed my work when I graduated in 1998.

Artspace Studios: 40th Anniversary
📍ATU Galway

Celebrating 40 years at the heart of Galway's visual arts community, this exhibition brings together the work of Artspace Studios members and offers a snapshot of the ideas and voices shaping Galway's contemporary art scene today.

📅 Open until 25 July (closed Sundays)
🕚 11am–6pm

I'm delighted to share that this painting has been selected for exhibition as part of this year's Galway Arts Festival. I'll share more details soon.

Lately, I've been reflecting on how important creativity is in my own life. Not for productivity or perfection, but for the simple pleasure of getting lost in colour, following curiosity, and making space for play, reflection and joy.

It's one of the reasons I love sharing creative experiences with others. We don't have to call ourselves artists to benefit from slowing down, paying attention and making something with our hands.

If you'd like to experience some of that creative space for yourself there are still a few places available on my upcoming Breath & Colour Summer Solstice Workshop in Cong next Sunday 21 June. 🌿🎨

It's that time again! I feel so utterly privileged to be offering another ten week term of Yoga and Self Care at the Crossroads community centre in Cong. Over time this class and it's members have become a form of sanctuary for me.

Time slows, that's what really happens, and I get to witness the tiny incremental changes that happen to folk on theirs mats every week. Over the course of ten weeks students become stronger, more supple, calmer and dare I say it? Happier.

It doesn't happen instantly, it happens when you keep showing up. It happens when your nervous system begins to trust this quiet time, this time of utter self care and stillness.

There's effort, of course there's effort, but there is never forcing. Body doesn't like to be forced. Body likes to trust and feel its way to inner strength and calm. Once that's felt, it can never be unfelt and it SPILLS into the rest of our daily lives.

I'm so grateful for this work that I have, I'm grateful to all of my students, to this community, you are my teachers as much as I am yours.

I'm grateful to you if you've read until here... All I would like to ask is, if you've been thinking about joining then 'If not now, then when?'

These classes are suitable for all levels, shapes and sizes.

The Cong Gallery

I've been working on a new series of oil paintings entitled 'This Water is Life'. This particular piece is currently on exhibit in The Cong Gallery, Co. Mayo in their annual Christmas Art Exhibition ending today.

I'm eternally influenced by the ocean, as long as I can remember. That jumble of love, excitement, fear and respect all rolled into one.

Now the lakes, rivers and forests around me feed into my creative flow....... Perhaps I make my journey more difficult by allowing the whole painting to develop on the canvas, from scratch, from the sky. It's as frustrating to me as it is exciting, EVERY time!

I don't know whether I'm painting ocean or lake, waves or still-glass surface, I just let it happen.

There are so many scenes underneath the one the viewer gets to see. I could see them as wasted hours, wasted materials but they're not. Those layers are the undercurrent, the history, the back stories and scenes that offer the viewer a feeling.

That's what makes the connection between artist and viewer, the invisible thread of story that words can't convey. The unspoken that is felt rather than heard, that doesn't have words, it just is.

Happy new roman calendar year All... Winter's hibernation is still ruling my tempo.
