It is with a heavy heart that I write this post but unfortunately the time has come to close the curtain on Ballinasloe Singers Circle .
We plan on going out on a high note however.
On Thursday, 12th March, I wish to invite you all to join us for our final hurrah!
I wish to thank you all for your support over the past fifteen years and for everything you have brought to our humble singing circle.
It all began one Thursday night in the back of Houghs “Corner House” all those years ago with a tiny gathering and have grown over the years. I wish to thank Damien, Frankie and the Clarke family of “The Dunlo Tavern” for their hospitality over the years in our new home .
To Declan Coyne of the south Roscommon singers circle and Johnny Johnston for all of their support over the years, and to each and everyone of you who travelled to us on cold, dark Thursday nights over the years from miles away, the words thank you simply are not enough.
Over the past fifteen years, we have made friends for life, lost great friends, laughed and cried together through every happy and sad occasion and met on the second Thursday of every month with a song in our heart.
I am incredibly sad to see this circle go but over the past few years we just weren’t getting the same support and crowd and it can be disheartening at times but perhaps someday in the future we can rekindle the flame and go again.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all of your support over the past fifteen years, I have made the best friends and have enjoyed every single Thursday gathering and I am very proud of the past fifteen years.
The song “Good friends and companions” comes to mind today as I post this and really rings true to our circle.
Best wishes,
Tom Corcoran
