🔔LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT🔔 Thrilled to announce these 3 amazing artists will be representing Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures for our performance showcase at An Chollchoill | The Hazelwood at Electric Picnic 2026! 🌲✨

ABBY BUTLER: Limerick-based singer-songwriter bringing together her Irish upbringing and Roma heritage through deeply personal songwriting. Her connection to her Romanian roots has shaped her relationship with identity, belonging and culture, themes which naturally weave into her music.

LIZZY C: Elizabeth Connors, aka *Lizzy C*, is an Irish Traveller rapper, performer and creative facilitator. A powerful and distinctive voice in Ireland’s hip-hop and spoken-word scene, her work brings together sharp lyricism, lived experience and a strong commitment to creating space for new voices.

FRANCIS WARD: A singer and guitarist from Galway’s Traveller community and a familiar face on the Misleór stage. Over the past number of years, Francis has become an important part of Misleór’s music programme, performing everywhere from youth open mics and family events to the festival’s main stages and the Misleór Stage at the Ballinasloe Horse Fair.

We’re on our way to Hymany Park for Culture Night 2026, celebrating the richness and living traditions of Traveller culture.

Join Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures, Ballinasloe Traveller Women's Group and Galway Rural Development for a free evening of music, storytelling, craft, food and community.

Come and experience traditional Traveller skills and knowledge, with wagons, a handmade wattle tent, tinsmithing, griddle bread, paper flowers, tent-building, Cant, songs, stories, traditional games, children’s activities, live music and more.

🌿 If Hazel Could Talk: Sharing Traveller Heritage 🌿

This Wednesday, Galway Traveller Movement and Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures invite you to Ballinasloe Library for a special Heritage Week event inspired by If Hazel Could Talk , a programme exploring Traveller heritage through nature, stories, traditional knowledge and shared experience.

Come along to discover:
🌳 Hazel and its role in Traveller traditions
⛺ Wattle tents and travelling life
🗣️ Stories and memories from the Traveller community
🍞 Traditional Traveller food, including griddle bread
🎨 Family-friendly activities

Whether you're familiar with Traveller heritage or discovering it for the first time, come along, have a chat, share in some traditional knowledge and experience a little of what If Hazel Could Talk is all about.

Q***r Nomadic Shorts brings together films exploring what it means to find belonging when identity, tradition and expectations collide.

🌈Featuring stories from Irish Traveller, Roma, Mongol and other nomadic communities, the programme reflects on q***r lives shaped by family, cultural heritage and resilience.

Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures, named after the Irish Traveller/Cant word for “wanderer”, celebrates the ways nomadic communities preserve their stories, honour their traditions and continue to shape their own futures

👏🌺Hosted by Oein de Bhardúin, this special screening is a collaboration between Misleór Festival of Nomadic Cultures, GAZE International LGBTQIA Film Festival and Galway Community Pride with support from Ardán.

H.O.M.E. features breathtaking aerial choreography, original music by Jym Daly and .o.g live operatic performance by and a phenomenal cast sharing deeply personal stories through movement and music.

Misleór Festival is now accepting submissions for the Nomadic Shorts Programme 2026, a space for powerful, creative storytelling from nomadic communities around the world.

To apply, email [email protected] with the subject: “Nomadic Shorts 2026 Submission” including film synopsis, director/writer bio, screening link (if available) and any previous festival screenings.

Submission Deadline: 31 July 2026.
