Its almost time for rehearsals to resume for Cór na dTreabh and we are all excited to get back singing and to meet up with friends and have a laugh again.
Whilst Cór na dTreabh welcomes new members throughout the year, the best time to join is as the new term begins.
We are an adult community choir and everyone is welcome. No auditions required, we just ask that you enjoy singing and if you don't already know what section you belong in (sorpano, alto, tenor or bass), our wonderful choir director Peter Mannion Music will slot you in appropriately.
Rehearsals are as follows:
Where: Gaelscoil Dara, Renmore, Galway
Day: Tuesdays
Time: 7.15-8.45pm
Cost: Pay as you go €7 plus annual membership of €20.

We would love to see you there on Tuesday - sure give it a try and see if you like it (we are sure you will)

Last Saturday Cór na dTreabh were part of a fantastic concert supported by Galway Civic Trust / Dúchas na Gaillimhe in the Mick Lally Druid Theatre to celebrate Heritage Week . Here is our version of Elvis's "Cant Help Falling in Love with you".

Rehearsals resume in Gaelscoil Dara on Tuesday 8th September at 7.15pm. New members are always welcome but starting at the beginning of the new choir term is best.

Cor na dTreabh really enjoyed getting back together last week for two rehearsals and the concert in the Mick Lally Druid Theatre to mark Heritage Week supported by Galway Civic Trust / Dúchas na Gaillimhe
Our wonderful choir director Peter Mannion Music got the audience involved and they rose the roof with "When the Saints/Swing Low"
Last year some members of the audience joined the choir after this concert and hopefully we will have some new members when rehearsals resume in Gaelscoil Dara in Renmore on Tuesday 8th September at 7.15pm

Cór na dTreabh are starting their term early with a concert tonight - A Celebration of Heritage 2026 - organised by Galway Civic Trust / Dúchas na Gaillimhe at 7pm in the Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane.
We are excited to perform once more, this time in a concert with several Galway musicians.

Looking forward to meeting up with the choir members tonight for our first rehearsal in a couple of months. Tonight and Thursday night rehearsals have been scheduled because on Saturday night we will be marking Heritage Night with a concert with some wonderful musicians from the Galway area. It takes place in the Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Late from 7pm-9.30pm. Thank you to Galway Civic Trust / Dúchas na Gaillimhe for once more inviting us to be part of this concert.

Come celebrate Sunday Mass with Cór na dTreabh today in Galway Cathedral at 6pm. Every year we have the honour to sing in Galway Cathedral at a few of their Sunday evening Masses.
All hymns we are singing tonight are part of a new repertoire so it will be interesting to hear them in a Mass setting with wonderful acoustics.
Thanks as always to Peter Mannion Music for preparing us so well.
We will miss our weekly rehearsals and opportunities to perform until we are back in August for a couple of nights to prepare for a concert to celebrate Heritage Week and then normal rehearsals resume on the second Tuesday of September in GaelScoil Dara at 7pm for which we will be trying to recruit new members.

Today some of our wonderful choir will join Mick Brown to sing some popular folk songs in SCCUL Sanctuary at 1.30pm for the Galway Alzheimers Support Group, just as we did last year and recently in Merlin Park Hospital.

Singing can significantly enhance the well-being of Alzheimer's patients by reducing anxiety, evoking memories, encouraging engagement, and fostering social connection.

Events like this are possible thanks to the support of Galway City Council and our hard-working committee who organise them.

Geraldine, Gerard and Cathal produced a fabulous spread of goodies and spot-prizes (as they do for every occasion) for our end of term rehearsal and party on Tuesday night. Everyone went home with something - be it wine, chocolates, soft toys, plants or cool keyrings that light up made by Cathal as part of his Transition year.
