Art School based in the stunning seaside village of Dunmore East (Ireland), facilitating art courses, art exhibitions, artist residencies and other art experiences in exceptional venues and locations. WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: From 44 The Quay to Artform

For the last three years the historical building at 44 The Quay, Waterford turned for the winter festive season into one of the largest and most beaut

iful exhibition spaces in Ireland. The three floors came alive with artwork by some of Ireland's leading artists, and the opening night became an important Christmas event for artists and art-lovers, welcoming each year over 300 guests. The curators of the event, Clifden and Martina, met to organise the 2017 exhibition, and this first collaboration marked the beginning of Artform School of Art in Dunmore East. Over the past three years, Artform in close collaboration with artist-tutors became a creative space where artists come to meet, teach, learn and show their work. While Artform is the perfect setting for studio-based and plein air art courses in all styles, media and level of skill, 44 The Quay is the annual showcase of the best that Artform artist-tutors and invited artists have to offer.

ARTFORM AT THE STRAND INN:
Winter Exhibition - NEAL GREIG RUA

> Courtesy of the artist, EXHIBITION by Neal Greig RUA has been EXTENDED over the WINTER PERIOD and continues to be available for viewing at The Strand Inn Dunmore East co Waterford, with daily late opening. <

Artform is delighted to present an Exhibition of paintings by Neal Greig RUA, artist and tutor at Artform Dunmore East.
Most of the paintings in the current exhibition were executed by Neal on location, in Port, located just north of Slieve League in Donegal. Neal describes it as a ‘captivating area where the rugged landscape meets the Atlantic’. The dynamics of this western shore, where everything is in a state of flux, is a subject that Neal keeps coming back to.
Speaking about this series of work Neal says: ‘A sense of exploration is employed when setting out to find a place to set up the easel. I look for the elemental relationships where earth, air, water and light engage and overlap. The constantly changing conditions create an energy that informs my painterly practice. I try to have a sense of going with the flow and moulding, and adapting the painting as the tide comes and goes or the weather blows in from the Atlantic. The oils stay malleable and can be pushed around on the surface. I am interested in the relationship between the static elements and the more kinetic aspects of tide and weather’.

The exhibition was originally presented for:
CULTURE NIGHT OF GREAT FOOD & ART BY THE SEA
For this year’s Culture Night, Friday 19th September, Artform School of Art invites you to an art exhibition by Artform tutor, artist Neal Greig RUA. Enjoy your Friday night meal surrounded by Neal’s vibrant, semi-abstract oil landscape paintings set in the relaxed and welcoming ambience of The Strand Inn Dunmore East. Join creatives and art lovers all over Ireland this Friday and make your night out in Dunmore East a Culture Night with great food and art in a beautiful seaside setting.

BIG LOOK GUEST ARTISTS - PAUL HALLAHAN - webinar on Wednesday July 24 @ 4pm

Dear artists, Artform is delighted to let you know about the next episode in a series of free hour-long artist talks hosted by Big Look Art. In this session, Big Look will be joined by for an insightful webinar on the topic of his work practice, followed by an informal Q&A.

Paul Hallahan is an Irish artist living and working at Fire Station Studio’s Dublin whose work is primarily based in painting, but also looks to sculpture and video. Interests within his work expand into many areas but commonly focus on how we as a species relate and interact with nature, taking art as a form or by-product of nature and our civilisation. Using various methods and techniques his paintings are built up of thin layers, this allows the works to be shaped and guided over a long period of time, it also allows light move between the layers and when used on raw canvas allows light move through the works. This has always been of interest to Hallahan as he wanted the works to be active to the viewer and transcend the composition and initial image of the work.
Hallahan co-founded and ran Soma Contemporary with Waterford City Council from 2009 to 2012, collaborating with various institutions and artists. He has exhibited widely over the past decade, winning the Golden Fleece Award in 2018. Recent exhibitions include Hang Tough Contemporary, The Complex, Royal Hibernian Academy, The Lab, Berlin Opticians Gallery, and Roscommon Arts Centre. In 2019, he participated in a two-person exhibition at the Lexicon Gallery, Garter Lane Gallery, Sternview Gallery, and Platform Arts. His work is held in collections such as The Arts Council, DLR County Council, IDA Ireland, Trinity College Dublin, The Office of Public Works, Waterford City Collection, and numerous private collections.

Places are limited to 25, so be sure to reserve your spot. To book find Eventbrite link https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/945468751487?aff=oddtdtcreator in bio.
