"Valerie Ní Loinsigh is an Irish actor, playwright and screenwriter from Cork. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin’s Drama and Theatre Studies programme, her work has been performed and presented in Ireland, the UK and New York, including the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Smock Alley Theatre, Galway Fringe Festival, the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory and BMCC TriBeCa.
As an actor, Valerie has performed a wide range of classical, contemporary and comedic roles, including Bernarda Alba in an Irish adaptation of The House of Bernarda Alba, the Chorus in Antigone, Olive Day in Crestfall, and originating roles in new musicals and original Irish writing. Her screen and presenting work includes collaborations with RTÉ and TG4, while in New York she also taught comedy at Long Lake Camp for the Arts.
Her writing blends dark humour, satire and socially driven storytelling, with recent projects including My Bad Years, an animated comedy series developed under the mentorship of Deirdre Barry through Animation Ireland. Valerie has a particular love of stand-up comedy and wrote her Trinity dissertation on the subject.
Valerie previously served as a judge for the Satirical Writer of the Year category at the National Student Media Awards (SMEDIAs) and continues to have a strong interest in comedy writing and performance.
Outside of work and the arts, she enjoys HYROX training, coding, long-distance running and is currently training for her first marathon.’
